About
The Falcon is a dynamic punk rock collective emerging from Chicago, renowned for their high-energy fusion of ska punk, skate punk, folk punk, and melodic hardcore. Formed by a lineup of seasoned musicians, the band features Brendan Kelly (vocals, guitar) from The Lawrence Arms and Slapstick, Dan Andriano (bass) of Alkaline Trio and Slapstick fame, Neil Hennessy (drums) from The Lawrence Arms, and formerly Todd Mohney (guitar) of Rise Against. The band originated when Kelly sought an outlet for songs that diverged from his primary band’s style, ultimately leading to The Falcon's formation and their subsequent releases, which have carved a unique niche in the punk rock landscape.
How to Sound Like The Falcon
The Falcon's sound is characterized by its raw, gritty energy and melodic intensity, striking a balance between aggressive punk rhythms and catchy melodic hooks. Their sonic identity is rooted in the dirty, overdriven tones of guitars and bass, often achieved with gear like the Gibson Melody Maker Electric Guitar and Mesa/Boogie M-Pulse amplifier heads, which deliver the necessary punch and clarity. The rhythm section, bolstered by Andriano's use of the Fender Telecaster Bass, drives the momentum with a robust and resonant low end. The band's gritty yet melodic approach is further enhanced by dynamic drumming, providing the propulsive force that makes their music a staple for fans of energetic punk rock.
