About
The Gathering is a Dutch band that defies easy categorization, blending elements of alternative rock, progressive rock, and various metal genres to create a sound that is both eclectic and atmospheric. Formed in 1989 in Oss, Netherlands, by brothers René Rutten (guitars) and Hans Rutten (drums), the group initially featured Bart Smits (vocals) and was later joined by Hugo Prinsen Geerligs (bass), Jelmer Wiersma (guitars), and Frank Boeijen (keyboards). The band has seen several lineup changes, with current vocalist Silje Wergeland joining in 2008. Known for their innovative approach, The Gathering has released 11 studio albums, each offering a fresh take on their evolving sound.
