About
Timber Timbre is a Canadian musical project that weaves elements of freak folk, Southern Gothic, and New Weird America into a haunting and cinematic soundscape. Fronted by Taylor Kirk (vocals, guitar), the group has seen a rotating lineup of collaborators, including Mathieu Charbonneau (keys), Olivier Fairfield (drums), Mika Posen (strings), and Chris Cundy (woodwinds). Emerging from Toronto's indie scene, Timber Timbre has carved out a niche with its moody, genre-blurring compositions that evoke a sense of eerie nostalgia and rustic allure.
How to Sound Like Timber Timbre
Timber Timbre's sound is characterized by its dark, atmospheric qualities, blending reverb-drenched guitars and echoing vocal delivery to create a cinematic, otherworldly experience. Taylor Kirk often utilizes a Fender Jazzmaster through a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 212 III 60W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp to produce warm, vintage tones that are both raw and immersive. The use of a Boss FRV-1 '63 Fender Reverb pedal enhances their music's haunting aura, while delay effects like the Boss DD-3 Digital Delay add depth and dimension. Timber Timbre's compositions often play with space and dynamics, allowing the music to breathe and resonate with a ghostly elegance that is both compelling and unsettling.
