Asher Guitars & Lap Steels is a boutique guitar and lap steel maker founded by luthier Bill Asher in 1982, based in Los Angeles, California. Bill Asher started out repairing and restoring instruments for the Los Angeles music scene before transitioning into building his own line of electric guitars, basses, and lap steels. The company is known for blending traditional hand-lutherie techniques with modern CNC precision to produce small-batch, high-end instruments.

The shop is particularly recognized for its Electro Hawaiian lap steel guitars, as well as T-style and offset electric guitar models. Asher instruments have found their way into the hands of artists including Ben Harper, Jackson Browne, Bill Frisell, and James Valentine of Maroon 5. In 2021, Bill Asher became an Irwin Certified Builder, working with Doug Irwin — the luthier behind many of Jerry Garcia's iconic guitars — to build instruments carrying forward the Irwin design lineage.
