In this "Rig Rundown" video for Premier Guitar, James breaks down his extensive pedal board by first explaining that the "strangest thing about this is that I’m running through the Matchless head and the Divided by 13 head at the same time." James has both pedals set up next to each other so that he can switch between a clean channel and a dirty channel at the same time.
James Valentine got Ernie Ball's signature model in 2016. He possesses this one, but according to Music Man blog, this guitar will be released in June 2016.
Fender Classic Series '72 Telecaster Deluxe
Solid Body Electric GuitarsDuring the late stages of Maroon 5’s Songs About Jane touring cycle, James used bandmate Jesse Carmichael’s black Fender Telecaster Deluxe. He can be see playing the guitar on the band’s 2005 live album and DVD ’Live - Friday the 13th’.
“That black Tele Deluxe was actually Jesse’s and the headstock cracked all the way down to the neck… [laughs] It was an old guitar and I’ve been looking for a good Deluxe since we retired that one from the road. I just really like the Deluxe because it has the best of both worlds—it cuts through the mix and it is so warm.”
According to the Martin & Co. website, James Valentine uses this guitar as one of their Martin Ambassadors.
At 10:19, Valentine shows his Suhr PT-100 Signature Edition amp saying “I wanted to try something that was really, really manly.”
At 3:33 in this video from 2012 Overexposed Tour, he can be clearly seen with the Fano TC6 Alt de Facto custom guitar while he took the lead vocals on "Seven Nation Army" and Adam took the drumset.

The Fulltone OCD is my main lead sound, it's awesome.
James used a Divided by 13 FTR 37 throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s. He can be seen using it in the music video for “If I Never See Your Face Again” (2008). He used a mix of a Matchless Independence 35 head and a Divided by 13 FTR 37 head to achieve his guitar tone on the ‘Hands All Over’ tour between 2010 and 2011.

Valentine, shows his Suhr Stratocaster in Premier Guitar rig rundown, at around 5:35 minute mark. He says, "I haven't really been a strat guy but I've been playing this Suhr strat and it's been fun.
"It sounds great, it's really warm, it's got all those good 335 characteristics" - James Valentine at 9:16 of this "Rig Rundown". He also says he uses this guitar playing "She Will Be Loved".
"When I started my main guitar I had been playing since I was a teenager was a Gibson ES346, which I still have and it's a great guitar." -said James.
