BugBrand is a Bristol, UK-based builder of analog audio electronics founded by Tom Bugs, who began designing and selling handmade sound devices in 2005 after studying Music Systems Engineering at the University of the West of England. The operation grew out of circuit-bending experiments and a curiosity about the sounds hidden inside simple oscillator and ring-modulator circuits, and every unit is assembled by hand in small batches from Bugs' Bristol workshop.

The range spans standalone instruments, effects processors, contact microphones and a dedicated modular system. Early devices like the Weevil — a lo-fi square-wave ring-modulator with power starvation and body contacts — established the house aesthetic of raw, playable noise boxes, and the BugBrand Modular System introduced in 2009 extended that sensibility into a full Frac-format ecosystem.
