Cycling '74 is an American software company founded in 1997 by David Zicarelli, headquartered in San Francisco and operating as a largely remote team across the US, Canada, and Europe. The company is best known for Max, a visual programming environment for music, sound, and interactive media that originated from work Zicarelli began in the late 1980s before acquiring the product from Opcode Systems. The company's name is a nod to a 1974 Schwinn bicycle catalog.

The Max platform has grown to include the MSP audio extensions, the Jitter video and matrix library, and Gen, which compiles patches into efficient lower-level code for audio and visual processing. Cycling '74 also co-developed Max for Live with Ableton, embedding the patching environment directly inside Ableton Live, and later introduced RNBO, a toolchain for exporting Max patches as C++ code, VST/AU plug-ins, web audio, and embedded targets.

Cycling '74 was acquired by Ableton in 2017, with Max continuing to be published under the Cycling '74 name. The software has a long history of adoption in electronic music, sound design, academic computer music programs, installation art, and live performance, where it is used to build custom instruments, effects, generative systems, and audiovisual works.
