The Glitch Mob's Gear
"I'm a huge fan of Bitwig. It has cemented itself as a highly creative and future proof DAW that is simple to use but allows advanced users to get deep with Bitwig's modular architecture. The modulators are such a unique and powerful feature that can yield extremely creative results with even the most vanilla plugins. I also love the MPE support especially with Bitwig's Polysynth. I truly believe that it's only a matter of time before MPE replaces the MIDI standard and so far Bitwig has implemented MPE in the most simple and user friendly way." edIT/ The Glitch Mob
“EXHALE is absolutely insane! It’s been a long time since a plugin has opened up an entirely new realm of creative possibilities for us. We can’t recommend it enough.”
"What is this, this is the Akai MPD 24..." "Yes, um... so this is basically the Akai MPC series but minus the sampling capabilities and just the pads, obviously you get six sliders, you get 8 knobs, and it only sends MIDI, so... you could load up any sounds you wanted, and you can actually play them on the pads..."
Pretty much every sketch that we have had made thus far has used REV, SIGNAL and EXHALE,
For dynamics, nowadays we generally lean towards the Smack Attack or Infected Mushroom Pusher.
In a tweet from Ooah, he displays his newly-arrived, "sexy" Ableton Push 2.

“IM Pusher is great for beefing up and saturating drum sounds, or it can be used on synth leads and distorted bass patches for extra bite. The tone shaping capabilities are very broad. This is one of the most impressive plugins we’ve seen in a while.”

On the EQ side of things, we will lean heavily on both the Waves SSL E-Channel and G-Channel to help give our kicks and snares the correct tone.

"Basically we have a bunch of midi controllers and perform our music through Ableton Live using a series of samplers."

The Glitch Mob's distinctive sound prominently features iZotope Trash 2, as highlighted in the Darkart Mastering's Tumblr Artist Spotlight.
"Also LFO Tool is our go to sidechaining plugin. We love it because it is so consistent every time. The problem with sidechain compressors is that some of the time you will actually get distortion from the compressor depending on how it’s set, or what the key signal is. Sometimes you want that distortion, but it’s really nice to have something that is transparent and produces the perfect ducking curve every single time."
One of these speakers can be found on the left side of The Glitch Mob's studio setup.
Members of The Glitch Mob can be seen producing on an old 23" iMac throughout this video.
"We used a lot of the plug-in called the Olga. It's by this company called Stillwell Audio. They're great. They're awesome plug-ins. We use mainly the Olga synth. It's really a cool synth."
"We do everything on a Mac Pro in [Steinberg] Cubase... Yeah, everything was Cubase."
"We also use AudioEase Speakerphone... actually, all the filters and modulations in there turned out to be amazing. We used the vibrato a lot. But also just for filtering things and creating atmospheres. There''s nothing quite like it. The ability of that plug-in to mangle sound is like no other. I would say that the sound of the whole album is directly related to our use of the UAD [plug-ins] and Speakerphone."
"We use reFX vanguard quite a bit."
In these photos from The Glitch Mob's performance at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, each member's setup includes a Livid BASE controller on their left-hand side.
This miniature controller appears about four seconds into this Vine video, in the top left hand corner of the shot, after the camera stops panning for a moment.
In this early video of The Glitch Mob, we see the members taping multiple Trigger Fingers to a table to perform live on the streets of San Francisco.
These headphones can be spotted just left of the smaller keyboard not being played, once the camera stops panning. The distinct purple oval above the earpiece is a signature of the MDR-7506 model of headphones.
The logo for Maschine is located in the upper right hand corner of the Glitch Mob's computer screen.
In this photo, on The Glitch Mob's Facebook, four Apollo 16s can be seen.
"So this is an all-custom rig, centering on some serious collaboration, including custom programming and Max/MSP patching by Matt Davis (who calls it a “real instrument”), live show production by Martin Phillips of Bionic League, and Gregg Lacey of Vision Scenery."
"There are four Universal Audio Apollos - presumably for multichannel audio outputs and effects/mix processing."
"We used [XLN Audio] Addictive Drums quite a bit and it was processed. And we also used [Quantum Leap] Stormdrum and [Toontrack] Superior Drummer 2."
