Founded in 1998 by Benjamin Fargen in Sacramento, California, Fargen is a boutique amplifier company specializing in hand-wired, all-tube guitar amplifiers. Ben Fargen taught himself electronics to service his own collection of vintage amps, then began building prototypes and gigging with them across California. As word spread, custom orders followed, and the brand grew into a respected name in the boutique amp world. Fargen amplifiers are known for capturing classic British and American vintage tones, with models like the Mini Plex, Olde 800, Blackbird, and DBC-25 (Dual British Classic) drawing heavily on iconic Marshall and Vox circuits while adding modern features like power scaling for bedroom-level playing.

Beyond building amplifiers under his own name, Ben Fargen has collaborated with other companies — notably contributing to the design of Steve Vai's Legacy amplifier series for Carvin. He also provides world tour and studio amp support for professional guitarists, and built a custom amplifier for Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The company also operates a Hot Mods service, performing modifications and blueprinting on amps from Fender, Marshall, Vox, and other manufacturers. All Fargen amplifiers are hand-built in the company's Sacramento workshop and come with a 10-year warranty.
