Founded by Joe Morgan, a former GPS satellite engineer who has been building, modifying, and repairing amplifiers since 1996, Morgan Amplification is a boutique amp maker based in Huntington Park, California. Joe Morgan came up in the Minneapolis punk rock scene of the 1980s, and his amp tastes lean toward simple, well-built designs that deliver iconic tones. Unable to find a modern amplifier that fit the bill, he embarked on a crash course in amp design, building roughly 500 amps in two years before launching Morgan Amplification.

The company produces hand-wired tube amplifier heads, combos, speaker cabinets, and a small line of effect pedals. Core models include the AC20 (a pedal-friendly platform), the Abbey (a 20-watt combo with a Celestion Gold Alnico speaker), the Dual 20 (which combines the AC20 and Abbey circuits into a two-channel design), and the SW50 and RCA35. Morgan also builds the JS12, a Josh Smith signature combo born when Smith needed a small-wattage amp for a Grammy Awards performance. A hallmark feature across the lineup is the Power Level control, which scales output wattage without choking the signal, letting players get full-volume tone at manageable levels. All amps use custom Mercury Magnetics transformers.

Morgan amplifiers have found a devoted following among touring and session musicians, particularly in the Nashville scene.
