Foxx is a guitar effects brand founded in 1971 by Steve Ridinger in North Hollywood, California. Ridinger started the company as a teenager after having built his first fuzz circuits — the Liverpool Fuzz — in the mid-1960s. Foxx pedals were housed in distinctive enclosures covered in a soft, faux-velvet flocking produced in colors like purple, blue, and red, with controls mounted on the side rather than the top of the box.

The brand is best known for the Foxx Tone Machine, an octave fuzz pedal released in 1971 that combines a Fuzz Face-style gain stage with a germanium-diode octave-up circuit. Foxx also produced the Guitar Synthesizer I and other effects during its short original run, which ended around 1975 when the company went out of business. The Tone Machine has been cited in use by players including Billy Gibbons, Peter Frampton, Adrian Belew, Trent Reznor, and Parliament-Funkadelic's Michael Hampton, and its circuit has been widely cloned by builders such as Warm Audio (Foxy Tone Box), Catalinbread, and Danelectro.

Ridinger went on to lead the Evets Corporation, which acquired the Danelectro trademark in 1995, and later launched the Snark tuner brand. Original Foxx units remain sought-after on the vintage market, and the Tone Machine circuit continues to be reissued and reinterpreted by boutique pedal builders.
