Kluson is a hardware brand specializing in tuning machines, bridges, tailpieces, pickups, and other replacement parts for electric and acoustic guitars. The original Kluson Manufacturing Company was founded in 1925 by John Kluson as a machine shop in Chicago, Illinois, and by the 1940s had become one of the most prominent suppliers of tuners to American guitar makers — most notably Gibson, Fender, Martin, Gretsch, and Rickenbacker. The company's closed-back "Deluxe" tuners, with their signature oval metal buttons and single- or double-line Kluson Deluxe stamping, became standard equipment on countless golden-era Les Pauls, Stratocasters, Telecasters, and archtops, and remain a reference point for vintage-correct restoration work.
After the original Chicago operation shuttered in 1981, the Kluson trademark was acquired in 1994 by Larry Davis of WD Music Products, which has operated the brand since. WD reintroduced the line with reissued Deluxe single- and double-line tuners, Revolution locking tuners, Supreme and Prestige series machines, and a range of bridges including Tune-O-Matic, tremolo, and Telecaster-style units. Product lines span faithful vintage-spec reissues as well as modern takes with sealed gears, locking posts, and contemporary finishes, aimed at both OEM guitar builders and the aftermarket parts market.
