Pettyjohn Electronics is a boutique guitar pedal company based in Sisters, Oregon, founded by Stephen Pettyjohn around 2014. A mastering and electrical engineer by trade, Pettyjohn spent years working as a producer, guitarist, and studio manager before channeling his experience with professional-grade studio equipment into designing guitar pedals. His guiding question — whether high-end pro audio gear could be distilled into a stompbox format — led to pedals that run on an internal 36-volt rail from a standard 9-volt power supply, a relatively uncommon design choice that contributes to their headroom and dynamic response.

The company's lineup is organized into distinct series. The Foundry Series includes the Chime (a low-gain, Vox-inspired overdrive and the brand's bestseller), Gold (a Marshall/Plexi-style overdrive), Iron (a neutral medium-gain overdrive), and PreDrive (a preamp/EQ/saturation unit), all of which have evolved through multiple generations — the latest being the "Cubed" or Version 3 line. The Core Series offers more affordable options including the ODI vintage overdrive, ROUS (a Rat-inspired distortion), and Rail fuzz. Pettyjohn also produces the Missing Link, a studio-grade DI box.

Every pedal is designed and hand-wired in the USA by a small team, using all-analog signal paths and premium components. The brand has built a reputation among tone-conscious guitarists for its emphasis on studio-quality sound in a pedalboard-friendly format, with customizable clipping and tonal modification options available on many models.

Pettyjohn Electronics has 20 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Overdrive Effects Pedals, Boost Effects Pedals, and Filter Effects Pedals. Their gear is featured by 8 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Pop, and Metal. Notable users include Ariel Posen, Brad Whitford, and Pete Thorn. Most Pettyjohn Electronics products sit firmly in the high-end, boutique range.
