Renoise is a digital audio workstation built around the tracker paradigm — a vertical, pattern-based sequencer descended from the Soundtracker lineage of the late 1980s. The project was started in December 2000 by Eduard Müller and Zvonko Tesic, with version 1.0 shipping in June 2002, and the software runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux under a single cross-platform license. It is designed for composing, recording, editing, and rendering music using samples, soft synths, and effects, and it ships with a built-in sample editor, a suite of native DSP effects, and full VST and MIDI support.

Alongside the main DAW, the company develops Redux, a sample-based VST/AU plugin instrument that brings Renoise's phrase sequencer and sampling engine into other hosts. Both products lean on the tracker workflow's keyboard-centric editing and tight pattern control, while supporting modern essentials like Ableton Link, microtuning, and a deep Lua scripting API that exposes most of the program's surface to user automation. Songs are stored in the open XML-based XRNS format.

Renoise has cultivated a long-running community around its forum and the r/renoise subreddit, and it remains a niche but well-regarded choice among electronic, IDM, chiptune, and beat-oriented producers who prefer the precision of tracker-style entry over the linear timeline of conventional DAWs.

Renoise has 2 products cataloged on Equipboard, including DAW Software and Sampler Plugins. Their gear is featured by 21 artists, with the strongest followings in Electronic, Rock, and Pop. Notable users include John Frusciante, Aphex Twin, and cEvin Key.
