Bass Guitars 3

I bought one of these last summer, second hand, and I was so blown away by it. The quality, the sound, everything. I used to play 'higher end' basses from big name companies (I'll not say who out of respect) and once I tried out a Tobias bass, just out of curiosity, I forgot about all the rest. These are the way forward for me. The active EQ lets you get so many tone variations, its very sturdy and just well put together. I made a few mods to mine, just changing the hardware from black to gold and putting straplock buttons on it. Aside from that all the pickups and electronics are stock, and it sounds great!
This bass sounds very solid and has great tone, mainly for metal in my use. It is quite neck heavy due to the small body and long neck though this wasn't much of an issue for me. All around its a very well put together instrument and you get a great deal for the money you pay. I bought mine used and it was an absolute gem of a find.

Amplifiers 1

Great amplifier, its really just your meat and potatoes, got a valve channel and a solid state channel so you get the best of both worlds. I haven't seen any professionals or touring bassists use this before but thats not to say it's an incompetent amp. For what I do, it serves me great and I plan to keep it for however long that may be. It may not be a big towering, menacing looking thing but it sure has a big sound onstage.

Effects Pedals 2

I bought this about 2 years ago on eBay for about £30, and it has served me well ever since! I would consider it to be up there with the likes of BOSS and other big pedal names. Its extremely sturdy too with its metal housing and well put together hardware. Really helps thicken up my bass sound on stage during standout parts.
This pedal is so handy for me. I play in a lot of different tunings so I bought this mainly for the drop tune function (though I like using the whammy too) and it now means I can just use the one bass for all different tunings. I would say though if you are playing at home to use headphones as you can still hear the strings of the bass in their proper tuning and it can be confusing to hear this. In a live situation I imagine it wouldn't be as bad, but I have yet to determine that.

Software Plugins and VSTs 1

This plug-in is great, with so many presets available for both guitar and bass. I am still learning how to dial in certain tones with it but for the most part I really enjoy using it, both with Logic and on its own.

DAWs 1

This software is absolutely brilliant! It's served me well and always is able to do what I need. I use it for home recordings, never used it professionally or anything but once I load it I get lost in its never ending sounds for hours on end.

Other Gear 3

I'm a big Trivium fan so my review may be biased, but one thing I certainly can't be biased about is that this guitar is so comfortable to play and hold either sitting down or standing up. The sound is very nice also, great metal tones yet also very nice clean tones, which is cool considering there is only a volume control and nothing else. Personally I don't really play Floyd Rose tremolos so using a Jenga block I locked the tremolo bridge in place.
This guitar is brilliant all around, with near professional level quality. I use it a lot for metal, though it also works great for blues too. It reminds me a lot of my dads old Gibson Les Paul, which is why I bought it, and it feels a lot sleeker than a Les Paul, as well as lighter. I would recommend it to intermediate and professional guitarists, it's a solid battle axe and will serve one well!
I bought one of these in black about two years ago. It is a comfortable guitar to play with a nice flat neck, though I haven't favoured this one recently as I've gone off the sound. I used to be into very doom metal and rock music which I don't so much play anymore, and this guitar is very much suited to that, with a very bass heavy sound. Despite that I still like it for what it is, and hopefully I will find a place for it again in my playing.
