Big brother of the XP50!

This board has some really great sounds! If you like darkwave, goth, ambient music you will love the sounds on this synth. Some are just other-wordly! Its a lot easier to sequence than the XP50. And alot of fun to play!

I Love my AN1X

Its blue and it just sounds fantastic! I might add that is PLASTIC! But when I play the AN1X I fall in love with it again and again. You can spend hours on end playing this snyth. It has a huge " fat" sound to it. It really sounds great for a digital analog synth!

Great, well balanced guitar!

Iv'e had my fender Squier tele for 15 years now. I can honestly say that its one of the most playable and fun guitars to play. The funny thing is when I was a teen I absolutely hated telecasters. And then I actually played one. And since then it has always been one of my go to guitars. Some Squiers are dodgy. So you should really play them a bit before buying. But when you find a good one they can be pretty nice guitars. This one has a 3 way selector switch and 2 single coil pickups. And it definitely sounds like a Tele. Its a very light guitar..well balanced and super easy to play! I added a Fernandes Sustainer pick up and simply can stop playing it!

Great reverb on this unit!

This unit was meant to be a table top unit. Which is great if you're doing effects sends. It has some huge halls and nice delays.

Really great unit for several things!

The yamaha FX500 is full of great reverbs, delays, chorus effects. It even has a compressor! But the overdrive and distortions are absolutely the pits (IMO). I think this was used a lot on the band SLowdive's Souvlaki Space Station. If you're a tweakster you'll love it!

oh yeah, these guys are crazy guitar versions of the SPX series, fun

ebowglow

This is the infamous reverb monster!

I always loved this thing but it was pretty darn noisy. Years later I found a wonderful MOD on the web (switching out a couple of caps) and it cleaned up all the noise and made it very usable for recording. You can get these pretty cheap on Ebay right now. This is a must for electronic, shoegaze, goth, and ambient musicians! It's not a Lexicon or Eventide but it sounds pretty good with the MOD.

its no SPX90 and the GT is most definitely the better version... I have 1 of these and a MIDIverb laying around SOMEWHERE and have owned 2 other Quadras, regular and GT, the GT is less noisey and just smoother sounding in a good way... I miss my SPX90 occasionally for its crispy, bright 'n bitty sounds, but I never ever feel like digging out any of my Alesis gear...

I use this primarley as a foot controller.

I bought the Behringer FV100 with the intention using it as a volume pedal. After deciding that it sucked tone and gain from my guitar I came to the conclusion that i can still use it as a controller. So I use it with Synth and Eventide space. It works great as a controller.

If you spend some time with this thing you get some great sounds!

This pedal is for tweaking. That being said you get some really nice tremlo and even flangish effects from it.

I find myself using this flanger for some really strange effects.

This Ibanez flanger was a cheapy from back in the day. It has a decent flange effect. But what i like about it is when you turn the depth all the way up and slow down the rate... OMG. If you have one try it!

I remember this guy and the soundtank chorus, both sound very similar to the 9 series equivalents... its a shame about the cheap tac switches that always break because the chorus, flange and tubescreamer from this series sound amazing and cost nothing... when you are ready to upgrade check out the FL9 from the 80s, I just got one in a trade and it does all the stuff the FL5 does and then some, more of an ultra-chorus sound or cheap leslie sim than a flange in the 70s Baracuda sense, but totally awesome... try using it for some Brian May doubled sounds! I love mine between a treble boost and an ac30

ebowglow

Hey... Im gonna check those out! The fl5 is a strange little pedal. It sort of had a metalic sound at times. I've got some strange effects and feed back loops with this thing. If someone mentions experimental music it one of the first things i reach for. I've had a couple of really nice flangers... just kept this one around for its weirdness!

all flangers can get metallic with the correct delay time (some are hardwired w/o a control) and feedback/regen/res settings... the FL5 reminded me of a cross between the FL9 and BF2 when I ahd one, but as a kid I preferred the BF2 and these days being more subtle by a mile I like my FL9.. if I wanted metallic tones I would definitely get another BF2, it couldn't hurt to have a BF2 and an FL9 on your board if you are an effects maven.

Watch the paint peel off the walls (if thats what you want).

Strike a chord and listen to the massive feedback wave fill your guitar amps cabinet! very cool for feedback effects! And Its a very aggressive Distortion!

ebowglow

Very nice Tube overdrive!

This tube overdrive is really usable. It has the "warmth" sound of real tubes and you can switch it from classic tube to what i call "monster" and watch it melt people faces off. Pretty cool for a tube pedal simulator.

looks like a fancy version of the ever-popular digitech bad monkey which is pretty much a TS9 with dedicated treble and bass controls.... nice

EBOW plus

I love the original Ebow but this model has a switch that "grabs" the harmonics in the notes you play...very cool effects with this Ebow!

ebowglow

It's just the best Wah ever IMO.

I love this Vox wah pedal. especially with a bit of overdrive... it give a sort of gritty or growling tone!

jimmarchi1

when I flirted with wah I played a 90s v847, really sounded great through a distorted amp but not as good as a crybaby with fuzz or played clean, cool pedal

ebowglow

Yeah, same here. Most of the time I've used wah it's always had a bit of overdrive. And this pedal just gave the sound I liked. But Cry baby does sound better clean for sure!

jimmarchi1

mine really pulled off great swervedriver type of sounds vs a crybaby classic... there are better options than the V847 for that 90s throaty sound these days, but the voxes are sooooo cheap

ebowglow

Great comp pedal for guitar!

I would have given this Boss comp pedal 5 stars but it tends to be a bit noisy at times. My tele doesn't quieten it down any either! haha!

I brieflyhad the limiter pedal from the late 80s, pretty worthless compared to classic vintage compressor stomps, noisey but amazing for limiting a wah wah to get crazy 'squeezing' wah tones... overdrive into wah into the limiter into a slighty dirty amp? oooh, but ugh to all the his added by the pedals... maybe nowadays effects are quieter if you buy good stuff, but when I was a kid all my effects were hiss city.... 80s and 90s effects sound great to me, they are classic if not hifi, but oh many th noise floor is hideous and the compressors and limiters add noise as wella s amplifying whats already there....

ebowglow

The Boss pedals from the 80's have a special place in my rig! haha! They are fantastic! When I was a teen they were great tools to piss of my parents! I always heard "is that an airplane landing" or " you sound like youre in a cave"! HIss City is right though. I remember hearing bacon frying at times! haha!

ebowglow

I've owned a few of these over the last 20 years and keep coming back to it!

This is one of the most reliable and used delays ever! Way to go BOSS!

ebowglow

Nice delays and looping.

I would have given it 5 stars but some earlier production runs were little vampires. They'd suck tone from your instrument from the moment you plug in. Other than that this is a great delay pedal with several mods available out there. The loop function is fun.

jimmarchi1
Moderator

all the ones I've tried were tonesuckers and the delays have a plastic quality I cannot get next to

ebowglow

Ya know I felt the same about it not sounding quite right at first. I got a pretty good deal on it and I liked the looping and reverse features on it. The delays eventually grew on me. I think it sounds best in stereo. It can sound a bit muddy in mono for sure IMHO.

jimmarchi1

I am a bi-amp guy so I've never really used one in mono except for that tweaky resonant filter delay on a recording one time... its better in stereo, still weird sounding compared to TC stuff of the same era like the delays in the old G sharp rack

ebowglow

You can spend days with this pedal and never get tired of it!

Simply one of the greatest reverb /effects pedals ever!
