A very underrated amp
This is my first Marshall. I paid $300 bucks at a local pawn shop for this guy. Needed a new spring reverb tank otherwise in excellent shape. This is a very versatile amp! Can be used for many different styles of music for many different types of players. I wasn’t a big fan of the stock Marshall 12AX7 but swap it out with a JJ…this amp will scream! Rather heavy for a SS amp, you’d think it’s a full on tube amp when first picking up. Very impressive hybrid. Tube pre amp and solid state power amp is not a bad combination at all. A bit more “agressive” than the VS 8100 but sounds closer to a tube amp than the VS8100. Must be the MOSFET transistors that help. Never looked back after buying, great sounding amp, built very well, very versatile, nice crunch and OD Channels, nice cleans! Never gigged with this amp but I’m confident it could do a small to a larger venue. Stadiums maybe not. Wouldn’t hurt to try though!
