Just got this pedal delivered today and the very first amp I wanted to try it out with was my Peavey Classic 30 which is similar in my opinion to a JCM-800. Almost the same preamp and power amp tubes (Peavey C30 has EL34 instead of EL84). Running straight through the main input…this pedal is INDISTINGUISHABLE from an Marshal JCM-800!!! I’m very impressed Marshall was able to pull this off! The only thing, all the video reviews thus far on YouTube has this pedal being played through a Marshall….I haven’t seen many that plays through different brand amps. As long as you have a tube amp, it will be faithful to duplicate the sound of a Marshall JCM-800. I’ve tried it through the effects return of my Peavey Classic 30 and it’s not the same as running it straight through! Tried with my Peavey Bandit 112 Transtube being that it’s on the “opposite side of the fence” from a tube amp perspective. The pedal sounds okay through a solid state amp, but definitely not at the level it sounds through a tube amp. Marshall did a great job with this pedal, sounds great, we’ll pronounced and defined sound. Clarity is as good as you can expect from Marshall! Harmonics ring through like a choir in heaven! It’s an amazing pedal paired with the right amp! I haven’t tried any of my other tube amps yet, I’m really curious to see what it does through a Marshall Valvestate hybrid bi chorus 8200! The only downside to this pedal, I wish it had individual tone controls for bass treble and mids. The tone shaping control does a nice job, but not like a three band EQ. Great pedal highly recommended! Try it before you buy it to make sure it’ll work well with your setup!
