Back in high school I was stubbornly addicted to bright round-wound strings because I was thinking it was the superior way to go about your sound. (I was obsessed with Flea and the Chili Peppers) A fellow guitarist would even show me his authentic Hofner bass with flatwounds and I was so disgusted by the way it sounded and felt. A year later I would end up being the one using flatwounds RELIGIOUSLY to capture that vintage warmth
