Description

Step into a world of rhythmic precision with the AudioThing Hats drum synthesizer plugin, an essential tool for any music producer looking to craft dynamic hi-hats and cymbal sounds. This plugin stands out with its dual-source sound engine, offering both synthesized noise and a rich sample section. The noise section departs from traditional approaches, utilizing six square wave oscillators, reminiscent of the legendary 808 drum machine, to create a uniquely metallic noise character.

The sample bank is nothing short of extraordinary, containing over 50 meticulously curated samples. These range from rare analog drum machines to authentic acoustic hi-hats and cymbals. To top it off, many samples have been enhanced with a classic Aphex Aural Exciter and captured on a vintage Revox B77 MkII tape recorder, providing a rich, textured sound.

Shaping your sound is a breeze with four versatile effects: Ring Modulator, Bit Crusher, Filter, and Reverb. The effects can be effortlessly rearranged to suit your creative workflow, thanks to a simple drag-and-drop interface. The filter section includes a HighPass and BandPass setup, both with 12dB/oct state variable filters that offer zero delay feedback, ensuring precise sound sculpting.

AudioThing Hats review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

AudioThing Hats offers a versatile solution for crafting electronic hi-hat sounds with impressive sonic capabilities. Its user-friendly interface, combined with its noise generator and sample layers, allows for great flexibility in sound design. However, the review points out some drawbacks, including minor issues with the LFO's functionality and a slightly high price tag that may deter budget-conscious musicians. Overall, while it shines in sound quality and ease of use, potential buyers should weigh these concerns before making a purchase decision.
