I really enjoy exploring the possibilities of using a bow on an electric guitar, because there isn't really a set correct way to do it, it's all experimentation. You will get rosin everywhere though.

Jimmy can be seen here playing Dazed and Confused with a violin bow. However, these were rejects that he bought in excess rather than using brand-new bows.
On many occasions Jonny has used a Violin Bow in his guitar, particularly for the live perfromances of Burn The Witch, and Pyramid Song
Q: I noticed you bowing behind the bridge, which is something Jaguars and Jazzmasters are good for. A: "That’s true; I used to do that on the Epiphone and was glad I could still do it on the Jaguar. The only thing I don’t like is that it is longer than a standard guitar and doesn’t fit in the one flight case I have. Whenever I fly I have to put it in a gig bag and carry on the plane."
