Yamaha Silent Brass System Review

trumpet.biz

The Yamaha Silent Brass System impresses with its ability to significantly reduce sound output, allowing musicians to practice discreetly. Users appreciate the natural sound achieved through the Brass Resonance Modeling software, making it a solid choice for condo dwellers or late-night practice sessions. The system's lightweight construction and durability are noted positives, as are the clear instructions and quality components. However, the abundance of cables can be cumbersome, and the system's price tag is steep compared to traditional mutes. While the included earbuds underwhelm, using personal headphones enhances the experience. Despite these drawbacks, the system effectively balances convenience with sound quality.

Yamaha SILENT Brass Review

musicedmagic.com

Yamaha's SILENT Brass System offers an innovative solution for brass players practicing in noise-sensitive environments. The system impressively reduces sound output and provides a realistic acoustic experience through earbuds, despite some minor pitch issues in the higher range. While the included earbuds are of basic quality and initial concerns about the mute's construction were unfounded, the system's portability and functionality shine. Ideal for musicians in shared spaces, it remains a valuable tool with some limitations in intonation that are typical for mutes. Overall, it's a must-try for those looking to practice quietly without sacrificing the quality of their sound.

It kept my instrument silent, and was useful beyond that

I was looking for a mute to practice at home with minimal noise, and of course that works with this system. Beyond that, it can take headphones, AUX, etc. to continue down the signal chain. I didn't use my silent brass system specifically for that reason, but I've heard others use it to great effect.

Unique and but limited

It has a great sound and is compact and versatile. However, it is not a very sturdy design, and has perpetual reverb.
