Overview Plini is one of the most innovative and refreshing electric guitarists of our generation. His distinct sound combines an unusually wide variety of styles: progressive, fusion, and metal, all with impressive fluency and elegance.

As musicians, we found great inspiration in Plini’s immense imaginativeness and artistry. As engineers, we realized that if a similar mindset could be applied to creating a plugin that could cover all the ground such a versatile artist requires it to, the results could be spectacular.

So we reached out to Plini to collaborate on a product, knowing that his incredibly demanding standards, good taste, and needs for a tool equipped with everything needed for production and live performing would push us to write a plugin that could not only do it all, but everything it did could be the best state-of-the-art technology can offer.

After conceiving the concept and requirements with Plini, a multidisciplinary task-force of the best minds in our team was put at his full disposal.

And the result is a product just as multifaceted and capable as the artist who inspired it. We hope that using it inspires you as much as creating it inspired us.

Amps State of the art tube amplifier modeling and versatility are the backbone of this plugin.

We wanted to try something different this time, so we worked with Plini on designing his dream amplifiers, engineered from the ground up to perfectly cover the vast dynamic and tonal range his music requires.

These amplifier designs were then obsessively modeled with extreme accuracy.

A virtual-analog model of a widely used bus compressor and booster/overdrive pedal are included to provide additional flexibility and adaptability to different styles and instruments.

The compressor’s threshold control is linked to the makeup gain so that the output volume stays constant throughout different settings.

Time Effects Reverb: Physical spaces give us a reference on where we are experiencing sounds, and a good reverb has to replicate this naturally. The multidimensional reverb offers a huge, beautiful sound that takes you to wide and narrow dimensions with the Space and Time controls.

Delay: The onboard delay allows for all the cool features you would expect from a digital delay, but we have also added our proprietary machine-learning generated Tape Saturation algorithm for the perfect combination between cutting edge-technology and vintage warmth and color.

Cabsim It is hard to overstate the importance of well-captured cabinets in a rig’s overall tonal character.

To offer maximum flexibility, we engineered a very comprehensive and adaptive cabinet simulation module: featuring six virtual microphones, which can be positioned around the speakers.

This module can also serve as a standard loader for your favorite impulse response files.

These features can be used on both mono and stereo configurations; the latter allows for a second microphone to be added with full panning, microphone-level, and phase parameters in addition to position and distance, for ultimate control and endless sonic possibilities.

Inspired by the popular ( but unfortunatly discontinued ) "Classic EQ" by Kjaerhus Audio, 7Q was designed as a simple, but effective 64 bit alternative to the graphical EQ with musically predefined bands and Q values. With the integrated high pass and low pass filters, you can tidy up your mix and make it more transparent. Use it either as your main EQ for an instrument or vocal track, or simply for a rough clean up before sending your signal into a compressor or adding other effects. MIC PREAMP, TAPE SIM & ENHANCER The MIC PREAMP models four different real mic pre-amplifiers, enriching the input signal with the renowned harmonics of the model you select.

The TAPE SIMULATOR reproduces the highly desired harmonic distortion of three different types of tape at multiple speeds: 1/4", 1/2" and 2". For added character, it can also be used in three special modes: Flutter, Vocal Dist and Fuzz.

When your vocal recording seems to lack presence, doesn't cut through the mix, or simply sounds weak, then adding an enhancer can revive it. By using an enhancer, you'll notice that a thin vocal recording will get extra definition and brilliance without being "overdone". The ENHANCER in Gem VOICE doesn't introduce anything artificial—it brings to life the natural harmonics that exist in the original tracks.

MULTIBAND The MULTIBAND module is a specific double filter to attenuate voice artifacts from mic recordings. Including two different filters (DE-BOX & DE-ESSER), both work as dynamic processors to balance unwanted frequencies.

The DE-BOX controls the dynamics of the lower-mid part of the frequency spectrum. "Boxy" vocals contain too much low frequency energy and lack the proper excitement needed to cut through mixes. The De-Box processor dynamically removes this low-mid excess.

The DE-ESSER focuses on sibilant sounds and lets you control them. Thanks to its AI-Based detector, it sounds incredibly transparent and is not level-dependent.

The Auto Cue, when enabled, automatically puts the De-Box or the De-Esser filter in "solo" mode while you drag one of its knobs. This function is extremely helpful as you focus on those delicate frequencies by allowing you to hear only the frequencies that the filters are processing.

COMPRESSOR The COMPRESSOR module is based on five different analog compressor models, including FET, Optical and Tube processors.

The LF Sens control allows you to adjust the low frequency sensitivity of the processor, in order to have an optimal tracking for male and female voices. The COMPRESSOR module also contains an Expander-Gate processor that, when used at low settings, cleans the input source by filtering out ambient noises such as headphone bleed and other unwanted artifacts. At higher settings the Expander-Gate can be used as a creative tool.

EQUALIZER What vocal chain would be complete without an EQ? The 4-band EQUALIZER in Gem VOICE is modeled on five legendary analog EQs. You can choose from 4K, British, German and Proportional Q styles. Both Shelving and Peaking modes can be selected for the low and high bands.

For added creativity, an additional Band-Limit model allows you to recreate phonograph and megaphone style effects.

SPACE & DELAY The SPACE module follows the most recent mixing trends, by using very short multilayer impulses, instead of a reverb, to enhance the dimension and the placement of the voice in the mix. Designed by MoReVoX (the same designers behind the award-winning REmatrix plug-in), this unique processor offers a current or creative vibe to any track. Additionally, the SPACE module offers the impulse responses of many classic reverb units from the 70s to the 90s.

When processing vocals, a delay is often used instead of a reverb to add width without losing clarity. The DELAY module in Gem VOICE can either be sync'd to the song's tempo or independent, and includes multiple presets such as simple delay, vintage slapback, and swell, to name a few.

DISPLAY & MASTER The MASTER section is the finishing touch and adjusts the final level and the number of output channels. It also contains an optional LIMITER placed before the master output, very useful when you need to keep the level under the 0dBFS.

The GRAPHIC DISPLAY is the icing on the cake and has two different views: EQ and COMP. The EQ view displays the EQUALIZER module's curve along with the realtime spectrum of the input signal, in order to visually see where the prominent frequencies lay. The EQ can either be edited graphically directly in this display or by using the controls in the EQUALIZER module.

When the COMP view is selected, the level curve is displayed on the bottom, and the Compressor gain reduction level is on the top, shown over time. With this view, you can easily monitor how the compression is responding to the track's level peaks.

Vintage Spring Reverbs Springs is a plugin that features a collection of vintage spring reverbs paired with an authentic Baxandall EQ emulation.

Springs features emulations from 11 types of spring reverbs, ranging from a long 6-spring pipe to a tiny battery-powered single-spring unit. We have used a combination of convolution and modelling to recreate the vintage character of each reverb.

Spring reverbs were usually paired with tone stacks from guitar amplifiers. Springs features one of the most iconic and unique sounding tone stack equalizers: the Baxandall EQ. A classic Baxandall tone stack usually features just the bass and treble bands, but we have also added a Mid band (with control over the Q).

Reel to Reel Reels is a tape emulation plugin with built-in echo section and tape start and tape stop effect.

Based on an old Japanese portable tape recorder with a very distinct Lo-Fi analog sound, Reels emulates all the imperfections of consumer reel-to-reel recorders.

We have modeled three different 1/4” tape frequency responses and saturations, along with all the analog imperfections of tape recording / playback.

Reels will add a very rough retro analog sound to your mixes. If you are looking for a Hi-Fi mastering tape emulation, this is not the plugin for you!

Tape Start and Stop When you press stop on a reel-to-reel player, the tape doesn’t stop immediately. Instead, it gradually slows down creating a pitch down and fade out effect.

The same thing happens in reverse, if you hit play, the tape gradually speeds up creating a pitch up and fade in effect.

You can replicate this effect with Reels, and you can also change the speed of the start/stop effect.

Tape Modeling We’ve modeled three different tape types, from ruined to NOS (new old stock) state. The tape types are named after the country of origin: JP (Japan), IT (Italy), FR (France).

JP Used tape but with an overall better frequency response IT New old stock but with a limited frequency response FR Overused and badly stored, very bad frequency response Each tape will affect the sound in different ways, especially at higher feedback settings when using the Echo section.

WOW/Flutter, Ducking, and other parameters will also change according to the selected tape, creating different amount of pitch and volume changes.

Outer Space is a faithful emulation plugin of a famous vintage tape echo made in the early seventies. As the original unit, Outer Space features a tape echo section with three playback heads and two spring reverb tanks. We have modelled three different tape frequency responses and saturations, along with all the analog imperfections of tape recording/playback. We have also modelled the ballistic response of the delay rate (repeat rate) which can create eerie pitch shifts (due to the Doppler effect), one of the classic tape echo-based sound effects.

Free Clip is an intuitive multi algorithm soft clipper/wave shaper plugin, available as a Windows VST or mac Audio Unit. The plugin allows you to choose between a range of wave shapes or ‘sigmoid functions’, from the most transparent but harshest hard clip, to the ‘softest’ but most saturated arctangent shape. You can then intuitively set the ceiling level using the slider that perfectly matches the level meter next to it. Oversampling is also available to remove high frequency aliasing; when oversampling is on this does introduce peaks slightly over the ceiling level however, so if you intend to use this plugin with oversampling as the final plugin on the master chain, ensure the ceiling level is set appropriately and/or the post-oversampling clip setting is set.

This plugin is a great way to conveniently transparently boost volume without clipping your daw, whether it be an individual stem or sound effect, or an entire track that you made. It is recommended that the hardclip, quantic or cubic shape be used for mastering, as these introduce no or minimal saturation.

The plugin can be also used as a more traditional saturation/distortion plugin by setting a ‘softer’ wave shape, such as algebraic or arctangent – simply lower the ceiling level to provide more saturation to the signal – just remember to boost the output afterwards. Alternatively you can boost the input gain into the clipper for the same effect. In this case, increasing the oversampling value is helpful if you’re hearing high frequency aliasing! Be warned that high oversampling values such as 16 or 32 times can be very heavy on the CPU

Analog tape has a smoothing effect and adds weight and glue to a mix – it turns the recording from a collection of individual tracks into a song, where everything is connected and works together.

Tape, with its component-level and physical modeling of three different tape machines, gives you all the warm vintage cohesion you could want in one plug-in. Add a few premium level features, like the mastering grade high shelf filter, stability control, and wet/dry mix knob, and you've got a new secret sauce. Mmm... tasty!
