Your favorite albums released this year

They're worth checking out just for the novelty factor. They're both pretty unique in what they do.

Your favorite albums released this year

What are some of your top albums this year?

I can't say for certain that the whole thing is going to be awesome, but I've been on the edge of my seat for Justin Townes Earle's new album. Champagne Corolla (his first single from the new album) is easily my favorite song of 2017, and I've been following him for a few years now and he's never let me down.

Pokey LaFarge just put out an album too, which I should probably get around to listening to since "Something In The Water" was excellent.

Also going on the list. Thanks for the help!

What were some guitars you played that disappointed you?

I feel the same about old Harmony and Kay electrics. Their only saving grace is a pickup that sounds shitty in (occasionally) a good way. It's way better to just buy a cheaply built modern electric and just drop some after market gold-foil copies in it.

I Write For The Site, Is There Any Articles You Guys Would Like To See

I just freelance so I don't have any say with the company, but I'd be interested in something like this as well. If anything maybe a stickied post in the Guitarists and Bassists section of the forum that functions as a Q&A panel?

Thank you! I'll definitely be in touch if I need some clarification on something.

Looking at my work sheet I don't really have a use for you at the moment, but if you'd be willing to send me some contact information I'll definitely get in touch with you to clarify some things for me. I'm not sure if we can DM or not since I'm just now getting into using the site's forums and I'm not comfortable posting my email address.

If anything, if you want me to have a more in-depth understanding (I have a functional understanding of all of the gear we cover, but only to a point) for when I write more technical pieces you can send me a quick write-up on how the electronic portion of pedals and amps function. I get the basic ideas of the sound they make but I'm always happen to learn more and my mechanical knowledge doesn't extend much farther than simple repairs.

I was actually supposed to start an apprenticeship with a local guitar shop that does repairs, but the guys brother in law put his foot down about it so he didn't have any competition in town lol. Would've been cool to land that job!

I can't compensate you anything, but I'd definitely read through it and try to incorporate it into what I can. No hard feelings if you don't want to spend time doing it for free though, I would totally understand.

This is awesome. I'll think on it more. If we end up picking this up I'll mention you in the end, and if I don't bitch me out in the comments and I'll get it changed.

You link me some peer reviewed studies or scientific articles that have quality data nd I'll definitely look at them because I do research things. I generally try to find a consensus from a variety of different places to try and counter act some of my bias, which while that isn't the best way to go about things it does help keep me from pushing my opinion into things too much.

But yeah, you have any good resources and I'll definitely check them out.

How do you CREATE?

Right? And I'm only on my first semester. Thankfully I'm starting out at a community college so tuitions low at least.

Floyd Rose Equipped Guitars

Now this I can get behind. Definitely going into the shortlist.

i noticed this too with one of their Thinline Teles. For whatever reason every time I picked it up I had to play with the saddles to intonate it again.

Floyd Rose Equipped Guitars

Basically I'm looking for a jazz fusion guitar, so something that can do both distortion and cleans well with a floyd rose. I'm just not to sure about the Ibanez RG pickups yet. I know the guy from Sublime played something along those lines but his was modded to hell and back.

Fender seems to have some issues with their electrics. Or the people in stores do a shitty job of setting em up before they're up on the wall. I played a handful down at Music Go Round in Fort Collins and they all felt like they were set up by someone who's never held a guitar before.

I'm definitely interested in the RG series, I'm just not sure about their pickups yet. I may just have to end up picking one up and doing some guitar surgery to get the sound I want.

I'm more of a rosewood and spruce man myself. So I bit I'd run into some salty comments if I went with my preference.

Lol, it wouldn't be an article so much as a book. I think trying to write an article like that would literally drive me crazy. I'd just end up crying in a corner, sucking my thumb, and rambling about sitka vs. adirondack.

I think one of those should actually be going up soon. Basically what I found was that nylon and celluloid sound really warm, tortex is in the middle, and the other tortoiseshell-like materials tend to sound a bit more trebly. This was going off of different forum posts and articles, but of course it's never going to stop being a topic of debate lol.

What were some guitars you played that disappointed you?

My main one would be a Blueridge acoustic, which sounded pretty thin considering it was a solid wood guitar.

Floyd Rose Equipped Guitars

Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody knew of a halfway versatile Floyd-equipped guitar? Something that can pump out halfway good cleans and do well under distortion? I've been looking around but I've had some issues finding anything cheap that'll do what I want, so suggestions would be appreciated.

How do you CREATE?

Since I got on my meds I've had a lot of trouble with being creative regularly. So now I just kind of mess around with my guitar or bass and try to come up with something fun. I've got college stuff to worry about too, so I don't have the time I used to either unfortunately.

Bands You've Seen Live

A local Colorado band (Fort Collins, so near enough to be considered local lol since Cheyenne doesn't have much live music) called Pasadena Crab Sandwich. A friend and I actually got on stage with them once and played a kazoo solo.

I Write For The Site, Is There Any Articles You Guys Would Like To See

Hey guys, I write for Equipboard's blog (and I love it!). I think the community here is awesome (compared to others cough cough r/guitar). Since a lot of our articles are written with you guys in mind, is there any sort of content you'd like to see featured on the blog?
