How to merge 2 devices that have artists overlapping?

Hey, I'm trying to report the two Teenage Engineering OP-1 as duplicates, but apparently, some artists are referenced for both items.
The link provided to see how to resolve the issue is broken.
Can you help me please?

Thanks

Changing a mistyped artist name?

Hey,
can you turn an artist into a group?
Would be needed for the group Sweet Valley, that has Nathan Williams and Joel Williams (Magic Point).
Thanks!

Can we contribute in the duplicate items?

Oh, micheal is handling the new duplicates :D

Can we contribute in the duplicate items?

Hey,
I was wandering if we can contribute with merging / deleting items in the duplicate items, or if it's admins only (because it doesn't seems to be updated very often).
Thanks!

Aphex Twin + TR-909 + TB-303 Live

Still nowadays it's quite impressing.
I was truly flabbergasted to know that it was made in 99, but it sounds super super modern.
I first heard it with Max Cooper's Boiler Room Performance, and so I thought it was made in the 2010s, because of the french-Canadian voice synthesizer saying "J'aime faire des croquettes au chien".
And yeah, the music video is crazy good too, with funky effects.

I discovered Aphex Twin last week with Windowlicker (thanks to Max Cooper), it's awesome!
You can be sure I'll watch for what you sent.

My German is kinda broken :(
But I would love to move to Sweden at some point, tons of tech stuff there (including music (such as Nord, Elektron, ...))

Chat AI are really good with theory, but really crappy with practice. I had already checked, and there are no electronic music equipment makers around me.
Maybe I can look further, and even check for computer stuff in general, but yeah :/
I live in East France / close to Luxembourg & Germany. What about you?

Yeah, I'm aware of that, and I had tried to do it in C++ at first, but I've not that much experience in C++, and I couldn't get just a basic thing with midi working in C++.
Apparently I miss some DLLs, but there are no ways to be found, and the documentation is quite poor about that.
C# is also way easier, but yeah, it was made by Microsoft. Would work on Linux, but no clues about Mac.
I really want to make it in C++, but it's a true challenge to just get a midi lib to work.

2yabout 2 years ago

No Livid CNTRL:R? Codanova VMX v64!

Thanks, and my experience with driver development is None! :D
But for MIDI drivers I can kinda use anything, but I'll use C# because it's compiled, and it's quite a fast language (super fast compared to interpreted languages such as Python, JavaScript, ..., but still slower than C++ / C / ASM).
I've used C# for making mods for games, a whole lot of fun.

For The remote surface of Ableton, it's Python, my first programming language, and it's not that hard.

(Also, it's kinda what I would like to do as a living, so I should start now to already gain knowledge and experience.)

And I forgot to say it, but the USB port fixed itself. Probably had dust in it, and I might have removed it with messing around with this machinery, and unplugging and replugging the thing a lot.

It's all 100% functional Just have to fix the foots, and the decals. I'm also gonna work on a driver, because some stuff are wrongly recognized (and most importantly, a remote surface for Ableton).

I just spent a few hours on it (something like 4 hours), and I fixed and lubricated all the faders, it feels super good now. Just have to fix the potentiometer now.

Edit: For people who will get on this page, searching info about this piece of machinery in 10 years or so just like me, the potentiometers are 10K ohm, D-Axis (the top is a standard for instruments), B103 (it's written below), 18MM (length of the axis).
(If you can't find an exact good one, you can also search for any rotative potentiometer of 10k ohms, small / similar size to the actual one, and with a big axle, you can saw the top down to ~18mm. Just keep in mind that it needs 3 pins, if you have the good dimensions you can actually take the base part from the original potentiometer that is broken. You might also need to solder longer pins)
Best websites for finding these are Chinese websites, such as Aliexpress (they can have quite a long shipping), or other websites that sells electronic components (like Conrad Electronics). They all comes from China anyway.

I just fixed the most broken slider. I've soldered it, then use a rubber on its graphite tracks in order to clean it (and also used silicon lubricant in order to get the slider smoother). It's all good now. Some other tracks are also bugging, but they bug more rarely. Also have 3 potentiometer that are broken (I think that when I wanted to open it first, I had to remove all the rotative encoders' caps, and I think that I broke 3 like that (but there were some sort of glue or grease that was sticking the cap)). I just tried to fix one, but it's still as broken as the 2 others. I'll see where I can get these new.

I hope that I'll be able to remake a firmware for the thing, because with using it with a VJ software, I now understand why the buttons lights works that way (it's default in one per line).
But I can reconfigure that with settings on the hardware.
There is an app in order to reconfigure it the way we want, but haven't managed to make it work yet.
But with their app, they provide the factory software for uploading firmwares to the thing.
I can even export firmwares from the thing, but it can be quite hard.
My goal is to be able to managed the lights on the buttons from Ableton, just like Launchpads, and it would be perfect, but I don't know if it's even doable.
Also, I forgot to mention the good points. It's not plastic, it's metal, so it's more durable, the sliders thingy are mostly in rubber (and not in plastic), so it feels super good, the same for the rotative encoders.

But it's crazy, it's probably the only image available of the VMX V64 box available on the internet.

Finally got it.
Only problem is that it have some problems.
Some sliders are a bit weird, but it should be easily fixable, and I broke 2 potentiometer while trying to open the thing in order to clean it (they were glued for some reasons). The Mini-USB thingy is kinda broken, because if I totally put the cable in it, well it doesn't work, but if it's half-way in, it works.
I'll try to fix it.

New to Equipboard? Dazed? Confused? Start here. 😎

But when going on my profile, I took stuff such as experimental ambient, that is kinda a sub-genre of a sub-genre. You can even have German Trance.
I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing :/

New to Equipboard? Dazed? Confused? Start here. 😎

Hello!
There miss the genre Plunderphonics on the website. (It's a music genre in which, musics are mostly made out of samples. Some artists have up to 140 samples on some albums) Thanks!

What about sizes?

Well it can help you to see the scales. And there are some stuff that looks way bigger or was smaller than the actual thing (And it would also be a cool exclusive feature).

2yabout 2 years ago

What about sizes?

Nah, but I'm not talking about phones, but equipment in general. It's hard to have an actual size reference online. (And how can I install postmarketos on iPhone >:) )

2yabout 2 years ago

What about sizes?

Hey, what about adding a sizes for equipment? So just like Versus, you can compare equipment, also by its size (for instance: https://versus.com/en/asus-rog-phone-5-vs-huawei-p10 , on pictures of the two products, there is an "expansion" icon, and when you click on it, it show you the two GSM side by side).

Can't add brand

I have an idea. The brand name is actually ReVox. Can you create the page with an uppercase V please? I checked, and user links are case sensitive, so theoretically, if you create a page with an uppercase V, well it's supposed to work. Only problem is that it doesn't work when I'm trying to add it on my side via the website :/

Hey, I'm trying to add the brand Revox, but it just doesn't work :/
I've tried on both my computer and my GSM, but nah, it just refresh the page after trying to add the brand (even without a logo).
Is there a way to fix that please? Thanks!

Some groups are referred as artists

Hey,
I have a problem with Joywave, and Sweet Valley (yeah, I had made a lot of edits on their page, but didn't knew they should have been referenced as a group).
https://equipboard.com/pros/joywave
I bumped into this problem, when I added the group Best Frenz, that have Daniel Armbruster and Jason Suwito. I went on Daniel Armbruster's page, and I was like "Weird, Joywave isn't referenced, but it's a big group". I went on Joywave page, and it wasn't a group :/
Afterwards I went on Sweet Valley page to see if there were the same problem, and yeah...
For Sweet Valley, there is Nathan Williams (who is also a member of Wavves), and Joel "Kynan" Williams (aka Magic Point)
https://equipboard.com/pros/sweet-valley
What should I do? Thanks!

No Livid CNTRL:R? Codanova VMX v64!

Heyyy!
I'm giving an update on my gears / my research n all.
So, I'm searching for a Livid CNTRL:R since quite a long time, and only found one second hand on Ebay Germany for 600€ ( https://www.ebay.de/itm/296177974611 ) (link for people interested)
Though, I recently founded out about the Codanova VMX v64, from another company that closed. It's really similar to the Livid CNTRL:R, but I've find one second hand for ~120€ (its condition is quite bad (mainly the paint), but it works apparently). I'll gather more information about it, and if I buy it I'll write a review, pictures n all.

Picture of a CNTRL:R (you can see it below on the Ebay thingy)

Overflow of non-musical equipment

Hey, There is something that is quite annoying on the website, it's the overflow of non-musical equipment. Let me explain. When I first started lurking on the website, I saw that some artists had their Macbook referenced. But then, yeah, they do music on it, but the computer they use is only a very small detail, since an artist who use Ableton on a Macbook, if we replace the Macbook with a Thinkpad, Ableton will stay the same. But then, I saw (General) beside the name of the product. I thought that, yeah, if it's just the global model of the laptop, but NO, people are referencing tons of Macbook Pro, like wtf, no one cares that you have an M1, and not just a Macbook (General), we should create a Macbook (Thermalthrottler) for the next M*. But it's a joke, like wtf, the 5th best computer is a freaking iPhone 6!!! Who've made music on an iPhone 6? And it makes no sense. And the worst, is that the best ranked thinkpad is 190th!!! while (it is a factual information) Macbook are not well made, and when it's broken you get scam at the "Genius Bar", while Lenovo's Thinkpad (even more the P models), or HP's Probooks are aimed for professionals (even more when artists travels, a friend of mine has its Macbook screen broken because his father grabbed his computer by the screen (how fragile is it)) (BTW, if you see pictures of the inside of the international space station, it's full of Thinkpad, and not Macbook ;)). My guess is that musicians uses Macbooks, because musicians uses Macbooks (or just because it's fancy?). Probably the same people who had bought these musician network switch that were actually $60 TP-Link switches. So yeah, why is there a freaking iPhone 6 that is the 5th best computer ?

Hey, thanks for the efforts!
It's just that at the top-right corner of your screen, you can manually add the items, that have a correct link, so you can do it by yourself, and it gives you some GearIQ.

So I think that for the big boxes
We should do 2 different. The Digidesign version, and the AVID one.
https://equipboard.com/items/digidesign-888-i-o
Here is a picture for the AVID version: https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-a1x7hg2jgk/images/stencil/1280x1280/products/8629/265315/Digidesign-Digidesign-MC-Avid-888-AUDIO-IO-MH070-AV_42451__78512.1707325451.jpg?c=2

And here is a better picture for the Digidesign version (where we have see the whole thing): https://retail.era.ca/cdn/shop/files/05ef3c4b372f1a084853bd939eb1f761_1200x900.jpg
(and this time I haven't took the /24 version)

Sounds good. Personally, if it's a product aimed purely at the video editing market and it can't really be used to unlock ProTools (which seems to be the case), then it's not really the kind of gear that the site owners want added to the site, as it would be like adding a video camera or Avid Media Composer to the database...but you're over 500 points now, so you get to make the call on this kind of edge case stuff yourself.

You'll see a little blue link towards the bottom of the Add > Music Gear screen. Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions or issues.

Well, I would say that it's audio related, since it's an audio interface :/
I mean, I get what you're saying, it's not made for music, but technically you could >:)
And I just added it

What should I buy next?

I'm really want more encoders and faders. My Korg MicroKontrol have a bunch, but it's quite annoying to config them. The CNTRL:R is more modulable than the Push 1, and looks also more reliable (because the Ableton Push 1 is super based over its firmware, while the CNTRL:R a lot less). (also, it looks awesome with its huge 16 x2 pads longs thing dedicated for the timeline)

2yover 2 years ago

What should I buy next?

Guys, I have fun story to tell.
So, (as your may saw on my profile), I really want a Livid CNTRL:R. A guy create an announce on a website, selling his Livid OHM RGB for 100€. I saw that just 20 minutes after he released his thing. I sent him a message, and when I was just about to buy it 5 minutes later, it was sold.
I was sad because the deal was close.
But I sent him a message, offering him 120, he cancelled the order, and took mine, I was glad, but literally 5 minutes later, he cancelled mine, the other guy just bought him back for 130.

Hehe, you're wrong, I do have a late-90s PowerPC that have all the software installed and the PCI cards >:)
But yeah, the license is broken. I do have this dongle, but it doesn't work anymore, and have tried to call AVID for that (they said they had to replace the dongle if it broke), they never answered :')
Edit: Uhh wait, I don't remember if it was the 888 I/O that had a dongle in order to work :/ But can't I just used the S/PDIF ports on these things? My Mbox had an S/PDIF ports as well, maybe it could work?
