The main desktop replacement computer; never leaves my home studio!

Clean and expandable audio interface with a high price tag

My main audio interface. Clean, hugely-expandable, and overall amazing, if only for the price as a drawback.

6 years later and you can get one for 140 bucks now. Works flawlessly with the current Macs

MPC-style sampling enhancement for Logic users

I've got all those little pads inside it mapped to the MPK88's pads for MPC-style chopping. It fills in the gaps that EXS24 still has in Logic for sampling actual records, hip hop-style.

M

Effortless sidechaining and trance gating made simple

Trance gate, mostly, but sidechaining with this is easier than messing around with bus routing and ghost kicks in Logic.

On the go, and saving desk space!

I play all my pianos by hand. This is how.

M

the unmatched charm of the real supersaw

There's nothing like the real supersaw. Not even the SH-201 nails it. Funny how this is considered a 'vintage synth' nowadays.

This was my very 1st synth ever, I learned synthesis on it and would record stuff into Cakewalk. You're spot on about the real supersaw. Unfortunately got rid of mine to make room for other synths :/

M

Versatile synth for leads, pads, and custom patch creation

Typical bass music synth, but I use it for leads and pads now as well. First one I learned to program outside of Logic's native stuff, and it shows with how big my custom patch library is for it!

Unlocking creative potential with advanced scripting and library hosting

Great scripting opportunities, and I'm delving even deeper into making my own libraries of sounds from my hardware that I can use away from home, not to mention all the doors it opens hosting LASS, Symphobia, and other huge libraries.

Nord Lead replacement. 'Nuff said.

You serious? That good?

Great for REX files but lacks beat detection features

The fact that it lacks that 'snap-to-beat' feature Ableton has, and that it has no beat detection algorithms actually built into it kinda puts this at the bottom of my list, but it's great for messing around with REX files, as it's still the only piece of software that can actually make them.

M

Unmatched sample chopping and intense sound performance

Chops up samples like nothing human, an amazing performance tool, and everything just sounds that much more 'intense' through its sound engine.

a versatile plugin for electronic piano sounds

Nothing like a real piano; don't let the 'true' in the name turn you astray. Sounds more like a Korg M1 with physical modelling incorporated, which is exactly why it's just the ticket for all sorts of electronic fake-but-real-enough pianos.

M

Versatile but overused sound module for music production

Mostly relegated to sketchpad sound module roles now, I once made entire tracks using only Nexus, that is, until I heard a thousand other tracks that sounded the same...

M

nostalgic sounds reminiscent of early 2000s hardstyle production

Sounds ancient, like a rusty piece of Soviet analogue gear. Probably the first VST to be adopted by the hardstyle producer base early on in the 2000s.

M

A versatile synth for electronic and bass music genres

A workhorse; my go-to synth for those done-to-death electro, house, prog, trance, and even dubstep/bass music sounds.

M

Great for tech-y electro sounds and bizarre, off-the-wall noise!

M

A fantastic software synth replacement for the Virus TI

Fantastic software synth. Just incredible, and a great replacement for stuff like the Virus TI when I'm away from home.

M

Simplistic software with potential to rival Pro Tools?

Interesting, albeit simplistic, new piece of software I'm putting through its paces. Possibly taking over for Pro Tools if the audio's better!

Wanna hear your thoughts on it. Interesting to see where and how it fits in with the other big DAWs.
