Brian Gibson
Brian Gibson's Bass Guitars
In this video Brian can be seen playing a black Fender Jazz Bass during Lightning Bolt's set at the 2013 Boston Hassle Fest. There's a pretty clear view of the bass around 1:20.
Brian used a black Ernie Ball Music Man Sterling 5-String Bass when touring 2015's "Fantasy Empire"
Here's a still image of Gibson holding the Music Man.
The bass is also seen here being played during a Lightning Bolt set on May 17th, 2015
You can read more about the bass and his equipment here in an article by Smart Bass Guitar
In this photo, Gibson is holding a bass where you see the headstock with the Music Man logo. If you look closely, you can also see the word 'stingray'
One of the first basses used in Lightning Bolt's early years and was last seen used on August 31st, 2003. Gibson then switched it out with a greenish/blueish official Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray Bass.
This is Gibson's current bass that he's using with Lightning Bolt to tour their new album "Sonic Citadel"
In an article with Premier Guitar, "Gibson’s axe is a 5-string Music Man StingRay that’s rigged with banjo strings on its two high positions. The three bottom strings are tuned in fifths, like a cello, rather than standard fourths. 'On the last record, we tuned the low note down to C, which is C-G-D for the low strings,' says Gibson."
Gibson can be seen here using the bass at a Lightning Bolt performance at Thalia Hall in Chicago on March 18th, 2018.
