Dan Swanö's Gear
I have the following guitars
B.C. RICH - American made ST-3 with EMG 81 + 2 EMG singlecoils. Black with reversed head
MAVERICK - black strat. Can't remember the model, but it's not used that much, my main sparguitar for shows, the frets are too high for my taste. Black with 2 humbuckers and a tremolo.
SCHECTER - Celloblaster 5 string guitar tuned i B. Made to be tuned down to A!! All over C2 and Bloodbath. Black with 1 humbucker and no tremolo.
SIGMA acoustic nylonstring. It's been with me since the "Kur-nu-gi-a" days. At least something in all my songs have been written on this one.
IBANEZ - Blazer. Really beaten up, mainly in the cellar. Black with one PAF.
I will soon buy an acoustic guitar. Either a 6 or a 12 string. Probably a Simon & Patrick or something.
Thanx for asking, I love this nerdy stuff!!!

Dan > I have a custom guitar with a strat left handed body from Warmoth and a Right handed True temperament neck. I normally play normal, right handed guitars, but upside down, with the thick E string at the bottom an the light E string up.. totally reversed...and a few years ago I decided to have my dream guitar built from scratch. With an original Floyd Rose and a Full Shred/Hot rail pick ups and stuff.. My friend Ülgnor put it together. All rhythm guitars and my solos on Retribution was recorded with that one.
Dan Swanö utilizes a B.C. Rich ST-3 Electric Guitar, equipped with a Roland GK3 pickup, as part of his guitar rig. This setup is integrated with a Roland VG-99 guitar system, allowing for versatile sound modifications. The detailed configuration of his gear, as outlined in the Musicians-navigator article "Dan Swanö - Guitar Gear Rig Update," highlights the ST-3's role in his dynamic live performances and recording sessions.
I also added a Roland EV-7 for a 100% seamless cross-fade between the 2 GT-10 engines within the VG99. The EV-7 is a real killer for cross-fading between clean and distortion.
Within the Roland VG-99, engine 1 is now a Mesa Vintage Channel Rectifier and engine 2 is still the Fender Twin. With VG-99 you got 2 GT-10's in it that you can morph between! Pure heaven!!
In an article on Musicians-navigator, it is noted that Dan Swanö uses a Fender Twin Reverb Head as part of his guitar rig. The setup includes the Roland VG-99, where one engine is configured as a Mesa Vintage Channel Rectifier and the other as a Fender Twin, allowing for versatile sound morphing.
There are also some nice sounds where I can add a mini-moog like lead sound (made from the guitar sound thru filters...no MIDI stuff) or add an acoustic to the electric for a nice doubling (Sounds not so good on their own though).
DAN: I replaced the Behringer MA400 headphone pre-amp with a Rolls HA43. The MA400 didn't have enough volume to satisfy the drummer (who uses this for his click-track too). The HA43 have enough juice.
I also added a Roland EV-7 for a 100% seamless cross-fade between the 2 GT-10 engines within the VG99. The EV-7 is a real killer for cross-fading between clean and distortion.
Switches of the FS6 do (A) Switch from Rhythm to Solo (B) Add something unique for each preset.

Roland VG-99 is connected straight line out (with all treble intact) right into the power amp of any good valve amp - 3. Tech21 MIDI Moose - 5 is connected thru MIDI to change patch in the VG99. Boss FS-6 - 6 switch is connected to the VG99 thru a stereo cable and controls parameters in the patch. Sometimes it's switching between rhythm and solo, sometimes to activate tuning function. 4 - Roland EV-7 for seamless cross-fade between the 2 GT-10 engines within the VG99. Backing tracks come into from the Apple iBook - 7. Output from the Apple iBook goes one channel (L) to the headphone amp Rolls HA43 - 8 and into Dan’s in-ear (and to the drummer’s in-ear) - 9. The other channel (R) goes to the passive DI box Behringer DI-600P – 10 and then direct line into the mix - 11.
