"CTE’s bassist fell in love with an old loaner seafoam green Fender Jazz bass during the recording of Thank You, Happy Birthday. The bass was heavily altered and featured P-bass pickups. Unfortunately for Tichenor, he couldn’t convince the owner to sell. Enter tech Jordan Powell who was enlisted to mod one of his J basses with P-bass electronics and hardware. Tichenor truly relishes playing this bass and all its wonkiness because he requested Powell not to fill in the holes where the old pickups and controls once resided. This bass is used primarily on the band’s heavier songs and he is looking to eventually drop Fender American Vintage ’63 Special pickups into it," states this Premier Guitar article.

"It´s got both of (the) best worlds of the JAzz and the P-bass" Daniel says about the Jaguar Bass. He currently uses it for three songs on the Cage The Elephant set according to this Fender Interview.

In the video for Trouble, Daniel is seen first at 0:27 playing a precision bass in white with a maple neck. If you pause the video at 0:58 and look at the headstock, you can tell it is a mexican from the tuning machines. American basses have different tuning machines the the mexican ones. The mexican tuning machines are thicker.
