He used Coricidin Medicine Bottles because it had a cleaner sound than metal slides but I don't think he uses them anymore because he has his own signature slide made by Jim Dunlop.

Derek talks about his history with the slide guitar, his preferences, and ends up commenting on the coricidin bottle saying "That's what i need. And that just became what I've used forever".
