In a video shared on Instagram by Deryck Whibley, he discusses his use of the ESP LTD MC 600 Viper Max Cavalera signature model. Whibley mentions that during the recording of Sum 41’s album "Chuck," all rhythm guitars were tracked using a MC 600 owned by their producer, Matt Hyde. Later, while recording "13 Voices," Whibley purchased his own MC 600, stating he wanted that specific sound. He notes that his guitar includes a Bare Knuckle pickup, unlike the Seymour Duncan JB pickup in the "Chuck" guitar. The video is titled "Guitar Stories (Pt. 7) - LTD ESP Max Cavalera AKA The Green Goblin."

In an Instagram video titled "Guitar Stories (Pt. 4) - SG Sort Of Special," Deryck Whibley showcases his Gibson SG Special Electric Guitar. He explains that he modified the guitar to have a single pickup instead of the original two, stating that although it worked at the time, the sound wasn't optimal. Whibley mentions using the guitar extensively on tour in its original form. He also identifies it as the second main guitar on Sum 41's "Does This Look Infected?" album. He notes that the choice to use this guitar on the album wasn't deliberate, but after their producer found the guitars sounded out of tune, they re-recorded all guitar parts with his Les Paul and this particular SG.
