Eric Clapton received two Roy Buchanan Bluesmaster No. 6 guitars as gifts from George Harrison. In the "Tears in Heaven" music video, one of these guitars is visible to Clapton's left. Between takes, Clapton frequently played the Bluesmaster, demonstrating his fascination with the instrument throughout the video shoot. Eric is seen playing a Fender Jazzmaster during this performance with The Yardbirds. This guitar was used by Eric for a short time in the summer of 1964. During this time, Chris Dreja's Gibson ES-335 had been damaged beyond repair, so he is seen using Eric's red Telecaster for a few shows. The Jazzmaster was left behind and Dreja is pictured with it on tthe 'For Your Love' album cover and other shows after Jeff Beck joined. Side note: Clapton and Dreja soon each purchased an ES-335. Clapton's first (a '64) and a replacement for Dreja (a '62)

Eric Clapton said that he bought a Santa Cruz after seeing a picture of it in an ad. in Guitar Player magazine. He loved the shape and look of it. It is one of the first flat tops he used with a cutaway. Clapton recalled using this guitar in the early '80s for home playing. This guitar was apparently custom built for Eric Clapton to replace another Santa Cruz he had which was damaged in the Bahamas.

Eric Clapton owned a 1980s Phillip Kubicki guitar, as detailed by Bonhams. Kubicki, renowned for his Factor bass guitars, started his career at Fender in the late 1960s and later developed this compact travel guitar after founding his own line in the 1980s.

Eric Clapton appears to have purchased this guitar as a tribute to Buddy Guy who played a similar Guild model. Clapton commissioned this green finish which he particularly likes. Lee Dickson recalled that Clapton played this guitar on stage in the 1980s. He also said that this shade was Guild's attempt at '7-Up' green.

This guitar was a gift to Eric Clapton from Neal Schon. In an interview with David Mead published in Guitar World in 1994, Eric Clapton commented: "After [Duane Allman had left the Dominos to return to the Allman Brothers Band], I felt like I had to have another guitar player. I had Neal Schon come in for a little while, having met him through Carlos Santana, but by that time ... the band was on its way out."
