Frank Allen's Gear
In this lip-synced performance of "This Feeling Inside" on "Ready, Steady, Go!" in 1964, Frank Allen is seen playing his white Burns Bison bass that he recieved from the Burns factory. He used ut mostly during 1964 - 1966.
According to The Searchers' official website, the bass was not to his liking. He writes: "It was not a good bass. The sheer size was ridiculous and everything on it rattled. I was forever screwing the pickups back in. But even I have to admit it was a memorable beast".
In this 1965 promotional film for The Searchers' single "So Far Away", Frank Allen uses his cherry red Gibson EB-0 bass which he had bought in 1961 while still playing with Cliff Bennett and The Rebel Rousers.
The Searchers' official website states that this bass was given to the Hard Rock Cafe group in the late 1980s and can now be seen in Reykjavik, Iceland.
