Ian "Tich" Amey
Ian "Tich" Amey's Gear
In the later years of the band, Tich would use a Gibson SG Junior as a live guitar, most likely as a backup instrument. I am quite unsure whether or not he used it in any recordings, but as seen in the picture above, he used it quite frequently in live performances. The specifications of the Gibson SG Jr. is that it has a double P90 pickup instead of the single P90 by the bridge. Besides the double pickup, it has the standard specs, with the Tune-O-Matic bridge, standard pickguard, and standard volume/tone knobs.
As seen in the picture above, Tich is using, what appears to be, a Gibson ES-335 finished in cherry red. Tich would use this Gibson extensively throughout their early years and progressing through until the late 60s' where Tich would use other guitars. Tich would use the Gibson to record Hold Tight, with the signature fuzz tone, heard in the intro and in the solo. His Gibson ES-335 would be fitted with a Bigsby Vibrato and with the standard Humbucker pickups. The model year is unknown, but it is most likely a late-50s to early 60s model.
