John Nolan's Amplifiers
In a photo from Guitargeek, John Nolan is shown using a Marshall JCM900 4100 100-watt 2-channel Tube Head as part of his rig. The amplifier head is positioned to face the back of the stage.
John Nolan of Taking Back Sunday uses the Supro Thunderbolt S6420 amplifier. The band has two Thunderbolts, which are employed in their live performances, as seen in a photo posted by Taking Back Sunday on Instagram during their June 19th Philadelphia show. Eddie from the band praises the amp for its exceptional low end and high gain in a compact form, describing it as the best on the planet.
In the user-uploaded photo from Guitargeek, John Nolan is seen using a Marshall 1960A 4x12'' Cabinet on stage, positioned to face the back.
I emailed Supro to ask which model Supro amps Taking Back Sunday is using live and on their new record "Tidal Wave" and the email I got back said, "Hey Tom,
The band has two Thunderbolts (regular, not +), two Dual-Tones, and one Coronado.
I understand they did use Supro amps on Tidal Wave, but I don't have any specific details.
Eddie says: "By far the best amp on the planet. The low end and high gain is unbelievable. And it's all in a compact amp, it's all you need."
Hope that helps!
Best, Peter
