In this rig rundown from Premier Guitar, Johnny Stachela discusses his modified Lee Roy Parnell Les Paul saying:
It started its life as a Lee Roy Parnell signature model, which is a gold top and somebody had it refinished... now it's a '59. They reshaped the neck, they reshaped the top carve, and obviously it's not a gold top anymore. It's kind of a butterscotch or something. But great guitar. Sounds huge.
In this video Johnny Stachela talks about his Wampler Tumnus.
I also have this boost pedal, Wampler Tumnus, for when you need that extra push over the cliff. So I pretty much leave that on all the time, in this band.
In this rig rundown Johnny Stachela comments on his Fender Super Reverb.
Amp wise, we're running a 1967 Fender Super Reverb. This is kind of my amp of choice for the road. Four tens, they're super reliable. They're loud, which I like. It's basically everything I need in an amp.
In this video Johnny Stachela says:
Pedalwise, we just got this tuner, Sonic Research Turbo Tuner, which in my opinion is the most important effect pedal you could ever have because being in tune is very important and I like this one because it is extremely accurate and it doesn't affect the sound at all.
A quick rig rundown at the St. George Theater in Staten Island, NY. The PRS is all stock, and it has a brighter tone than Les Paul. He uses as backup for LP with Allman Brothers tones and as first option for other cover like Gratefull Dead and original tunes.
