He used this from 1991 to 1992 to switch effects and programs on his SPX900 and MP-1. It can be seen on their peformance of Tommy the Cat on the Dennis Miller show at 0:48. Although the footage is grainy, the white stripe along the top can be seen and splotches of white correspond to where white text on the MC-1 would be.
