Michael Devin's Bass Guitars
Seen in a large image in the source, he can be seen holding a Precision bass with the Precision/Jazz pickup configuration, as well as 2 control knobs. It's unknown what model this is or if it even if a production model, so it's assumed to be a custom shop model due to the atypical control scheme.
In this video, specifically at 8:40, we can see him holding his Rickenbacker 4001 Bass, which is quite roadworn and beaten. Other things to note is that he's replaced both pickups with Bartolini Rickenbacker pickups, and replaced the normally white pickguard with a reflective one. In the video, he says he only uses it for sound checks and other things, but more recently he's been seen using it on stage, seemingly becoming his main bass.
Devin owns two of these basses, both from 1971, one in a Walnut finish and the other in a Black finish. Seen clearly at 9:24 and 10:32, these, at the time of the video, are his #1 and #2 basses respectively. The only modification to these basses are replacing the stock bridge with Hipshot 2-Point Supertone bridges.
In several photos on this website, you can see Devin holding a Fender Jazz Bass. He mentions enjoying several other Fender basses, so it's unknown what model or year the Jazz Bass used is. Seen in what looks like Torino Red finish.
