Michael "Mick" Taylor's Guitars

Mick says, "This is a Fender American Vintage '62 Stratocaster from about the year 2000."

"Bought this guitar used, but it was only just slightly used. It was pretty much new, from Charlie Chandler's Guitar Experience down there in Hampton Wick." ( https://www.guitarexperience.co.uk/ )

"I just picked it up that day in the shop, and I..." strums guitar once "... and I bought it there and then. And that was that. And, since then, it's just become my main guitar."

Mick: "I got it in 2008. "

"This just seemed to make perfect sense, because it does have a bit of Les Paul tonality about it. It's a little bit lighter, 'cause it's double-cutaway, obviously, and it has the trem, which brings a little bit of Strat into the picture."

Find it on:

Mick: "I remember when Charvel started doing it, and the headstock was the wrong way up on a guitar. And it was like, 'Yeah! Yes! That's a kind of hoodlum thing to do.' And I thought, 'One day I'll have a reverse-headstock Strat.' And everything just fell into place."

Find it on:

Mick: "This guitar's main strength is how it looks. There comes a point in your life where you need to stand on a stage with a big white and gold guitar, play an E minor chord, and that moment came." "There's just something endlessly cool about it."

Find it on:

Mick: "I borrowed it for a gig, and, well, let's just say it got dinged. So I had to phone the guy and say, 'Well, the thing is, this guitar probably isn't coming back, so we'd better do a deal.'"
