Mike Campbell

On pgs. 3-4 of this interview in Tone Quest Report Vol. 9 #5, published March 2008, Mike Campbell states the following about the Super Beatle:

We went to a store out in the Valley that had a bunch of Super Beatles, and we didn’t care if they were solid state or tube, we just wanted that look, and we got them, we really liked the sound of them and started using them on tour, and that became our live sound for several years. (...) In the early days, there weren’t many pedals that I’d use. I would use the preamp in the Echoplex for my edge if I needed distortion, as the Super Beatles were really clean. I think the secret to my distortion and sustain is the Echoplex driving into the Super Beatle. I occasionally used a wah wah, but most of my sound is that old, noisy tube Echoplex into the Super Beatle.

This Fender Showman Head and 1x15 Cab is owned by Mike Campbell

Serial: A 00824 The head and cabinet both have a decent amount of dirt on them. The tolex on the cabinet is ripped in several places. The grill cloth on the head is also slightly ripped and worn. Aside from cosmetic flaws the amp functions and sounds great! This head requires a vintage style foot switch to control the vibrato which we did not have so it is uncertain if the vibrato works. A foot switch will need to be purchased separately. The cabinet comes in a road case that has "TB & HB" stenciled on the side. The head does not come with a road case. Super cool relic of the road!

Serial: S-44406 Head T-1583 The tolex on the head and the amp are in overall pretty good shape. The amp functions as intended and sounds really great! All of the effects appear to function as intended however the Reverb seems to be a little finicky. The amp would likely benefit from a tune up but it does function as intended. The cabinet comes in a road case that has "Heartbreakers" stenciled on the side! Super cool relic of the road!
