About
Mudcrutch is a pioneering American band that originated in Gainesville, Florida, in 1970. Known for their blend of country rock, Southern rock, Americana, and Heartland rock, the group featured Tom Petty (bass, vocals), Mike Campbell (guitar), Tom Leadon (guitar), Benmont Tench (keyboards), and Randall Marsh (drums). Mudcrutch initially gained popularity on the Florida bar circuit before relocating to Los Angeles. Although the band disbanded before achieving significant recording success, they later reformed and released albums that captured their early spirit and musical chemistry, including a self-titled album and 2. Their reunion was sadly cut short by Tom Petty's passing in 2017.
