In 1982, Roger Limb was photographed in Studio E, using an ARP Odyssey Rev3 synthesizer, which is positioned to the right of the setup including XLR-Hypertac adaptor boxes and a Revox A700 tape machine. This setup is documented in the Radiophonic Workshop Gallery.

Roger Limb occasionally used the Yamaha DX7 synthesizer, as confirmed by Paddy Kingsland during a conversation with Limb. In discussing "The Box of Delights," Limb mentioned, "The main synth in my studio was an Oberheim OBX and I might use a DX7 occasionally." Roger Limb uses the Elka Professional Synthex, as he stated: "Oberheim OBXa and an Elka Synthex. For a long time I used the Oberheim alone and we've only recently got the Synthex — they only overlap very slightly and there are still a lot of very useful sounds I can get on the Oberheim. To be honest you can't get such a it's a little bit lacking in bass body but it's got a lot of very interesting mid and upper-range sounds which the Oberheim can't do."
