In a post on the Country Blues forum WeenieCampbell.com, Roy himself confirms the year of the guitar as a 1936 model. In the liner notes from his album "Travelin' Man" Roy can be seen posing with the Gibson J-185 that he played on the album. On page 53 of the book "Gibson's Fabulous Flat-top Guitars: An Illustrated History & Guide" Roy can be seen with a Gibson model J-55, an extremely rare guitar.
