Scott Travis' Gear
DW offers the ability to create custom drums within their collector's series. Scott Travis gives details about his custom set in the video here.
Scott always used Tama Drums until 2008. He received his most famous Tama kit (Starclassic?) in 2004 for the Ozzfest tour and was eventually sold on Ebay. The maple kit was wrapped in a chrome vinyl that was glued to the outside of the shells. Bass drums (2) were 24" x 24"; closed rack toms: 7" x 8"; 8" x 10"; 8" x 12"; 10" x 14"; floor toms: 16" x 16" and 16" x 18". Aluminum snare was 5.5" x 14". Two Iron Cobra bass drum pedals; legless hi hat; d-drum triggers on the 12"; 14"; 18" toms and snare.
Scott favors Vater's rock model of sticks.
These are the hi-hats Scott typically uses. He uses two pairs, one on both sides of his set. Here is a photo of Scott's setup from the Paiste website.
In a letter from D'Addario:
"Looking back at some invoices, here’s what I got:
EC2 Clears for most tom batters, and EC Resos for the reso sides.
Some Super30s, Custom Pros and Blasters Snare Wires and a Hazy300 and 500 Snare Side Reso.
EMAD2 Clear and EQ3 Clear, as the bass batter with some aramid fiber patches."
A description of Scott's setup can be found on the Paiste website.
"Scott Travis includes the Paiste 19" Signature Reflector Heavy Full Crash among his preferred cymbals. This information is sourced from a user-uploaded photo of his cymbal setup on the Paiste website, circa 2009. The setup also featured older Rude cymbals from when he exclusively used Paiste Rude models."
Uses two of these 20 inchers along with two 18" and two 19".
The china he uses to get those awesome blasts on songs like Painkiller! This cymbal can be seen in this Paiste website photo of Scott's kit. Incorrectly, it is described as a "Rude" china on the Paiste website, when it is clearly a "Signature" model.
Scott Travis uses the Paiste 19" RUDE Thin Crash cymbal, as highlighted in his setup on the Paiste website. He has employed RUDE cymbals, including during the Nostradamus tour.
Scott Travis, known for his dynamic drumming, used the Paiste 20" Rude Thin Crash Cymbal during a period of his career, as documented in his setup on Paiste's official website.

as listed on the Paiste website.
On different YouTube videos; online photos; and the Paiste website, you can see this cymbal in Scott's kit. I would think that he has used it since 2018 at least, but I cannot confirm this date. I choose this date because it coincides with the "Firepower Tour."
Before Scott switched to Vater, he used the Vic Firth Metal Sticks with the nylon tip
In the YouTube video titled "Drum Rundown with Scott Travis of Judas Priest," presented by Sweetwater, Scott Travis can be seen using the DW DWCP9002 9000 Series Double Kick Pedal on his drumkit at the 3:38 mark.
In a concert photo available on Equipboard, it is evident that Scott Travis uses two DW 9000 Single Bass Drum Pedals. The image clearly shows the setup with two individual bass pedals, confirming that he utilizes separate pedals for each bass drum, rather than a double pedal configuration, which is typically used with a single bass drum.
In a concert photo, Scott Travis can be seen using the DW DWSM110 Control Bass Drum Beater attached to his DW 9000 bass pedal. The DW DWSM110 features interchangeable weights and three striking surfaces: hard flat felt, spherical felt, and flat plastic. The beater includes four removable brass weights, each weighing 10g, allowing for five increments of forward throw. The self-leveling head ensures consistent striking against the drum head, enhancing both speed and power. Proof of this setup is provided by a concert image available at the Equipboard source image link.
In the concert photo provided, Scott Travis is shown using a DW 5500TD Delta II Hi-Hat Stand less the two legs. The image clearly displays the hi-hat stand, which is known for its rugged, double-braced, two-leg design and features such as integrated memory locks, easy-swiveling legs, a locking clutch, and lateral cymbal seat adjustment.
