Sully Erna's Gear
Sully Erna of Godsmack is seen using the Philips EL6030 custom microphone in the "1000hp" music video, as uploaded by GodsmackVEVO on YouTube. This dynamic microphone, manufactured by Philips Radios in Germany between 1954 and 1957, features a hyper-cardioid moving coil, a corrosion-resistant aluminum diaphragm, and adjustable impedance settings (10,000, 500, or 50 ohms). Known for its robust design and historical significance, the EL6030 requires no power and measures 65 x 178 x 65 mm, with a net weight of 0.8 kg.

You have this picture of Sully Erna's custom EL6030. This microphone was custom built by Me, Christopher Curry of Mutant Mics. It was built to go in the 1000 horsepower video and to go on his tour for the same album. You can check the inside cover of the the album and see he gave me, "Special thank to: Chris Curry at Mutant Mics." He actually bought two of them one for a back up on tour. Both have Shure 58 beta's inside them as the element and LED's The reason they did parts of the video in black and white while he sang into the microphone was the Red LED's lit up his face and the producer wanted to get rid of the look for the video, but you can see it is lighted up if you look close. There are pictures of the Mics with me after I built them and pictures he sent me on my web page and my facebook account when he got them. Someone not sure who stole my picture you have off my webpage and then they just wrote custom and gave the original specs of the mic. When I assure you I built it and it is custom. I have many famous and not so famous clients all over the world. You can see this album for yourself on my Facebook page.
