In his interview with Guitar Player, Bates states that he has Jerry Cantrell signature amplifier. The amplifier is also mentioned on his interview on Premier Guitar.

I also have a Friedman Jerry Cantrell model head and cabinet that I really love.

Jerry Cantrell is a good friend of mine and he suggested that I play one of his amps, so I have a nice Friedman Cantrell head going through a 2x12 cabinet and it sounds great.

I use amps almost always. This may sound funny, but the main amp I typically use is a Peavey Classic 50 4x10. I used to use that in conjunction with my Marshall when I was in Pet, because the Peavey would give me a cleaner articulation. I would run the two of them together. When I focused my work solely on being in the studio, I just used the Peavey and I found it to be extremely versatile.

Strangely enough, this might throw some of the gear nerds for a loop. For the longest time I used a Peavey Classic 50 combo amp with 4x10s - it makes the GuitarViol sounds so good through that - I run it clean but it sounds distorted because of the way I play with the bow and rosin but it records really well and I've done almost everything on the last two Manson records on that amp.
