My primary bass for recording and gigging. Strung with Rotosound flat-wound strings in order to give it a more balanced, less twangy tone (due to the short scale neck I found that round-wound strings would ring out much more than normal with several unwanted overtones). Aside from when I'm playing around at home I almost always have the pickup selector switched to only the neck pickup (the precision bass one), this is due to the output on the bridge (jazz) pickup being much weaker than the neck. Aside from this slight issue, which I'm sure I could fix if I cared enough, I couldn't commend this bass enough for it's tone and it's rigidity.

Obviously this is what many players go to when thinking of a starter guitar, and for good reason. My Squier Strat served me for well over a year before I received my Telecaster Deluxe, and it is as every bit reliable and valid an instrument as it's successor.

I own a Squier Telecaster in a burgundy finish from (trying to be accurate) the mid-1990s. Whilst |I've only used it a few times at home it seems to have a solid construction, decent sound, and an adequate ability to stay in tune. However, having acquired it around the same time as my Squier Strat, it is safe to say I prefer the latter.

I've had this guitar since I was about 16, it's about all you'd expect for a <£100 piece of gear, yet it's still well built enough that it can stay in tune, resonate fairly well, and it has served me well as the principal intrument when it comes to beginning to write a song.

I also use this beginner-type acoustic to write music, although much less than my Hudson. This too is a decent acoustic guitar for the money, I would say that it has a slightly higher quality build than the Hudson, although I still prefer using that one as I like the feel of the instrument more. Altogether a good acoustic guitar that has served me well on occasions.
