in this day & age & with a now deeply informed look at fuzz- Why the hell would anyone buy a Nano Big Muff? Boggles the mind. Fuzz War is like 10 pedals in one. So many better options. I'd also add RML Electron Fuzz to the options list...oh yeah, and the Warmjet V (modeled after Eno's famous WEM fuzz on Here Come The Warm Jets) ask for a bench model. As far as legacy goes ultimately nobody listening gives a shit what pedegree a pedal might have. Don't buy for history, buy for tone, texture, tamber, & color.

Like lots of other people I used to repaint, tape, or put things in a different enclosure on my petals when I played live to avoid conversations with people who venerated this pedal or that...aaaand to keep my secrets as well. Also, i played guitar in a fuzzed-out reverb happy band that definitely owed something to JAMC & subsequently was booked with lots of similar acts and I never saw anyone ever use a Big Muff. Lots of Shin-Ei Companion or similar stuff tho.

That said I've still got an old Big Muff. Sell it to ya cheep.

Yeah, definitely likely easily done with something you already got with your DAW. A quick google search should yield results or let us know what DAW you're using and maybe we can help. I've build a whole ton of stuff in Ableton -like for parallel reverb w/o needing an extra send, etc.

Jim, take heart my man- I still workout the analog tape regularly & is always all patched in for all sorts of wacky and practical stuff. We'll have a sleep over and dork the fuck out.

Weird it's working well for me- even seeing updates where something that was mistakenly put in "other gear" was corrected.

Only thing that still isn't working is the notification. Still get the "check twitter" page.

-DIY excluding common mods and clones

-Still be able to slot them properly (Mic's with Mic's, Guitar w/ guitars, etc) but with maybe a simple tag "DIY" or something

I know there's gotta be people building their own Modular stuff here too. Those people and all the others mentioned are people I'd love swap ideas, poke questions, etc.

You know- people who electrocute themselves here and there and like the smell of solder!

Yeah, I feel the same about clones/kits or common mods. Definitely more thinking of new creations kinda stuff. Clones & mods are killer, just maybe not worth a separate designation.

forgive me for being crazy ignorant but this is your own account? Cuz I definitely got some strong opinions about my time in Minn. It was the the 1st place I got a job as an professional engineer (fuck yeah!) but also one of the toughest cultural adjustments I've ever made (fuckin' lame!). Crazy different from the West Coast.

Fuck yeah you should. When I was playing guitar on the regular I never really got into many pedals w// no OD TB or Distortion (tho I bought a ton!) Super simple set up...then a buddy turned me on to his jfet stuff that he was building for a bunch of a bunch of B3 players and I fell in love.

Am I totally off base in suggesting that we could really grow EB with the formal and eloquent solution to DIY stuffs? It's all I've heard about for a bunch of years now and it's now gone crazy 100% main stream. I'm not a bender but I get super psyched by the projects, kits, wild one offs, etc.

Seems like a lost opportunity for EB if things aren't tweaked to foster that community. I say that as a guy without a single bent circuit in my gear. I wanna know and see more of how these things come into fruition. For example - Folktek would be an awesome add especially with the builders POV on what they've made.

I've got a guitar I built from scratch-no kits just woodworking tools etc. It's my 1st guitar for acoustic 6 string.

I've worked with a buddy on a painstaking C12 mic that is the pride of my mic locker. It also is my 1st mic choice 80% of the time.

Neither of them are on my board despite being the most used gear I have-

What would be the best way to upload them & how can we design EB to interest more of the brilliant/crazy DIY kids? I'd love to see their crazy machinations and talk with them about it.

Yep, I'm totally down for Jim-treblebooster. It'd definitely be cool to foster the DIY thing that's gotten enormous now. Circuit bending, Ardiuion/ Raspberry Pi stuffs, home made spring reverbs, etc. we all know it goes on forever.

A nice formal way of adding this stuffs would be awesome. Doesn't need to be complicated-just maybe a DIY tag but not before the gear category. So mics still are mics, pedals are pedals, etc.

It's a huge population that would be totally psyched to have a place to see & trade ideas & mods. in the already killer format of EB.

Until there is a consensus I'm gonna hold off on adding any of that stuffs. I'm still behind in just regular stuffs anyway but I'd love to see a solution to this-not just so I can add stuffs-I'm more excited to see what community will follow. Bring on the circuit bent Nintendos & the like!

I've got Mics, guitars, etc. I've built or made myself- What's the best way to post/list this stuffs so as not to clutter the site? Several of my most often used gear/instruments are things I built myself or in conjunction w/ kindred friends tho I haven't added them cuz I'm not sure the best method.

I am a dedicated member of the RTFM club but it would be hard to ignore the glut of other resources exploring everything from plug-ins, rack year, pedals, DAW's, etc. YouTube, forums, blogs, online "classes", etc. The best of them combine excellent information & humor in my opinion.

Oh yeah, & for those who don't know- I'm 42. Soooo I can't get into Canada cuz I got a DUI 22, 23 years ago. The fuck, right?

Haha, yeah Canada. Living in Portland you'd think I'd have played up there a lot-but, I got a DUI when I was 19. So no Canada for me. If you got a DUI, forget about crossing the border into Canada. I have had some friends who've had no problem if they fly & if their destination is further into Canada.

Honestly tho? I really haven't cared enough to try- Europe just pays so damn well, no limits on food or drink, guarantees always include good/great accommodation, usually better weather, and maybe most of all, that's where Spain & Portugal are!

Yep, I've seen this market as well. I facilitated a mix of some unrealized Breeders tracks cuz I just happened to be the only person with a 1" 8 track, the format it was recorded in & was lucky enough to have a mentor like John Koker (R.I.P) early. The Breeders stuffs was well handled and a totally moral pursuit but as a result never saw proper release unfortunately. Fucking tragic, but there are scoundrels at every corner and laws that stop them but also stop legitimate efforts. It's a shame they never saw the light of day. They just sit in my tape stacks & hard drives. Nobody will ever hear them...

Huh, weird. Notifications stopped working for me on anything (iPad iPhone, no matter the browser-etc.) about 2 weeks after I joined...weird...

The gear moving thing stopped working about a week or 2 ago for me. It was fine until then.

Also, am I the only one who gets an error message when trying to check notifications? It's been like that for months now for me-tablet or desktop (Mac). I get referred to "Updating our equipment...check Twitter" page.

Also, I can't seem to rearrange my board. Soon as I tediously move mics, to my mic section, tape to my analog section, plugins to my plugins section, etc. I refresh & they just seem to bounce to another random location & nothing is placed where I put it.

Is it just me?

Anyone else have this issue?
