Paramore – This Is Why

Zac Farro uses a Ludwig Classic Maple Drum Kit with a Vintage White Marine Pearl finish. In a YouTube video by Modern Drummer Official titled "Zac Farro - Paramore - Tour Kit Rundown," Farro states, "I was playing the Yellow Vistalites when we started touring this touring cycle, and we were mainly doing like festivals but kind of felt nice to kind of change for the arena like change it up and kind of go more of the album aesthetic um so that's why we went with the white, and also normally we have like a full red stage so the red and yellow was kind of maybe not the best combo." The sizes includes a 13" Rack Tom, 16" Floor Tom, and 22x18" Kick

In the video titled "Zac Farro - Paramore - Tour Kit Rundown," Zac Farro's drum kit, a Ludwig Classic Maple Shell Pack in Vintage White Marine Pearl, is visible behind him at the very beginning. The drum sizes are specified as 13"x22", 16"x22", and 18"x22".

At 5:23 in the video, a Porter & Davies Gigster Tactile Drum Monitor can be seen positioned behind Zac Farro. He is also seen sitting on a Porter & Davies Gigster Round Throne Top, which is connected to the drum monitor.

Zac Farro uses Promark Hickory 5B Wood Tip drumsticks. In an interview with Modern Drummer (4:15), Farro states, "Yeah, I just have the Promark 5B um hickory. They're great. It's funny cuz I was like going between 5A like the naturals, and recording I feel like it's a little different cuz you can play a heavier stick, a lighter stick depending on the song or like you know a thinner head or a smaller size kit or whatever. So when we came out, I was using the sticks I kind of went into the record, and we're snapping them like twigs laughs after a bit at the 5A's, Chris (Zac's Drum Tech) was like 'you might need to step it up a little bit' and I was like 'yeah, I'm good I'm good' and then after like five songs in, and you've broken a stick in every song I was kind of like 'okay maybe you're right'." In the video titled "Zac Farro - Paramore - Tour Kit Rundown" by Modern Drummer Official, Zac Farro mentions at the 2:09 mark that he uses Remo drumheads in his kit. Subsequently, at the 2:16 mark, a tom in his kit is visibly fitted with a Remo Clear Black Dot Drumhead.

At 2:28 in the video "Zac Farro - Paramore - Tour Kit Rundown" by Modern Drummer Official, Zac Farro confirms using Remo Ambassador Clear Drumheads on the bottom of his drums.

At 2:40 in the video provided by Modern Drummer Official, Zac Farro is shown using a Remo Controlled Sound Coated Drum Head With Reverse Black Dot on a Ludwig Supraphonic snare drum during the Paramore "This is Why" Tour kit rundown.

In a video by Modern Drummer Official, Zac Farro is shown at the 3:28 mark displaying an Istanbul Agop 20" Traditional Series Dark Ride Cymbal as part of his cymbal setup for Paramore's "This is Why" Tour.

"Taylor York has been using several Supro amps for his guitar tracks on the next Paramore album, and we hear that the sounds are phenomenal!" - Supro in August 2016.

Taylor York confirms the use of the Strymon Zuma in his recording setup for "This is Why," as evidenced by his Instagram post from January 2023, showing his pedal chain.

In the videoclip of the song This is Why of Paramore Taylor York can be seen using a Gretsch Broadkaster S159 1976 7601 sunburst and in the first show of Fall 2022 (playing the same song), a very rare guitar with two Gretsch Super'Tron humbuckers, a top-loading stop tailpiece, and a body which can only be described as "lumpy". >It was discontinued in 1979, and has not seen the same reissue releases as other iconic Gretsch solidbodies from earlier in the company's history.< (Reverb.com)

In this post Taylor can be seen with the Fender strat he was sent by the team at Fender. His guitar features only two single coil pickups as opposed to 3 that a strat normally has. The pickguard of the guitar features the word why. “Why” is a reference to the Paramore song This Is Why

"We wanted the bass and its tone to carry that song. For that, we had a signal going to my head, another to a Traynor amp, and another through an octave pedal and an Ampeg B-15—on top of all the distortions and fuzz pedals we used. That is my favorite tone I’ve ever gotten, and I’m so happy that that’s the first song on the album. "

Joey was also seen with the Gibson more frequently on Paramore's This is Why Tour and opening act dates for Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour. He mainly used it for the songs Misery Business and Ain't It Fun, resulting in the bass' tuning to be C#AGD.
