The V7 pedals were designed to look like old war relics of the early 1940's and even ship on small wooden crates with Russian letter stamped onto them, the same way milsurp (Military Surplus) Ammo comes when bought from Slavic countries.

In a video interview by Bonedo on YouTube, Jeremy Davis discusses his use of a Gibson Ripper Bass, specifically mentioning at 0:44 that he plays it on "The Only Exception." He notes that this model is from the '70s and has a factory refinish.
"We wanted the bass and its tone to carry that song. For that, we had a signal going to my head, another to a Traynor amp, and another through an octave pedal and an Ampeg B-15—on top of all the distortions and fuzz pedals we used. That is my favorite tone I’ve ever gotten, and I’m so happy that that’s the first song on the album. "
Jeremy Davis is seen at Warped Tour in 2007 using a '62 Reissue Precision Bass. He has this one and a white one, with the same style pickguard, that's body has been sanded, grinded down and chipped away.
